I was comming home tonight from some car meet. A few bikes left at the same time as me and ended up going the same way on the highway. They were 3 bikes. I think 2 F4is with passengers and a single guy on a 600RR. The guy on the 600RR pulled up and looked like he wanted to play, so I downshifted into 4th nudged the gas till he went. We were pretty close through 4th but in 5th I think I had about a car on him when I let off. We lined up again. This time I gave 3 honks to try and make a more fair start. I heard him kick down another gear this time. I started in 4th again but shoulda gone to 3rd. He got almost 2 cars on me initially because I started at too low an rpm, but I stayed on it till about 140 and kept him from pulling more. There was a turn up ahead so I let off. Good thing because soon after I spotted a cop driving on the service road about to pull onto the highway. I gave the guy thumbs up and went home. Fun end to a boring car meet.

 

I shoulda started in 3rd gear. I was only at about 3700 rpm when we went.
