Cobalt SS and N/A 300ZX walked on with slipping clutch...
Yeah Yeah... not a RX kill... sold my baby, but dammit a KILL none the less.
Not the best stories... I've read some kill stores on here that are like... 3 paragraph novels. I'll just get straight to the point:
FINALLY went out and bought a decent timing gun today, and played around with the timing a little bit.
I was running 14-14.5psi with no knock.
Got the timing just right, and am running 16.5 with no problem.
Decided to have a little bit of fun.
Went cruising down "Capital Blvd" where all the ricers hang out on Sat. night.
Didn't find much... I guess the BOV scared alot of the hondas away.
Guy with a brand spankin new cobalt SS is revving and burning out all over the place. Traffic is minimal. All he had I can tell was exaust (muffler only?) Was the supercharged model. Damn thing looks alot like a SRT4 in the night...
I catch up to him. At the stop light I just kind of give him a dumbass look.
Race was from a 25mph roll... he gets a slight jump on it... we both take off slightly accelerated... he hears the BOV and guns it, I react and take off. He gets MAYBE a 1 second jump on me.
3rd gear he was gone.
I feel bad.... he still has his 30 day temp tag on it, and gets his *** handed to him from a $350 21 year old 2.0 sweedish car!!! HAH!
300zx was just from a stop. Had me until 3rd gear where I beat him by maybe 2 or so car lengths... went to 85 and slowed down.
I only have a modified APC unit (factor electronic boost controller) running around 16psi, with slightly larger injectors. Straight pipe from the turbo back, and a slipping clutch
Can't wait to get my front mount, 30# injectors and 3bar FPR!!!
Let the flames begin
I would have a video, but I couldn't get the damn camera to stay mounted on the dashboard without flying off... next week I hope to be better.
These were my first races really... don't like to risk it due to harsh punishment... but I thought what the hell... was definately fun. I like to keep it on the track though... dirt that is

Just looked up the specs on the cobalt...
205HP!!!
Geeze... that's WEAK.... I thought they had more power than that! HELL for the money, I'd rather get a SRT4!

yeah but cobalts SS supercharge (yes not all SS are supercharged) have been known to lay down 205WHP stock :X . kinda scares me. im itching to run one one of these days to see how fast it is.

errr no. please direct yourself to the Chevrolet website. there the Cobalt SS, and Cobalt SS Supercharged.
SS puts out 170hp, SS Supercharged puts out 205. i know its dumb, but hey, its domestic.

i think you might wanna be scared of the cobalt. it has almost no drive train loss. Remember that their aftermartket takes a little bit to get going but once it does you need be very affraid of a car like this. remember the ls1 it took a couple years and now look. they are the best eingine platform ever made.( that is the ls motors.) Just wait til they have hybrid supercharchers and stroker kits and all the fun things that comes with a piston engine they could make srt-4's look bad. But hey that is just my two cents
Uh, I've heard of them having 15-20% drivetrain loss.
And..the Cavalier engine will never cause fear for me
And you're comparing a bullet-proof V8 to a de-stroked 4 cylinder
V8's will always be better! Remember, the more cylinders, the smoother it runs..:O

theres actually 3 Cobalt SS here in the little town i live in, all 3 of them are not the Supercharged version. i actually went to the next town and saw a SS Supercharged at the dealership and it did look a little bit different than the SS that i have seen at home.
so the guy at the dealership told me that if i see an SS with a higher spoiler, and 18" rims. its the SS Supercharged......confusing aint it. up til now i thought any chevy car with an SS were supercharged, shows what i know.
you guys can check out Streetfire for a few vids of the SS Supercharged walkin a WRX up past 60mph, thats why im a bit conceren. although im lookin forward to run one with my current setup.

Eh, I honestly dont' know if it was supercharged or not...
looked like this one
Are you sure they come from the factory with 18" wheels???
It did have large looking wheels, maybe 17" but I dont know about 18.
Yeah, I mean come one.... its a ******* ecotec engine. Can't have THAT much potential with a stock bottom end.

in the description of it, it says 18" Aluminum wheels, but then the 17" version looks exactly the same lol. the one above IS the supercharged. the SS badge just behind the fender has a little line under it that says "supercharged" but then again ive seen a cobalt SS without the side badge at all......like really, can they confuse the public some more?
but again, im seeing the spoiler as an option on the SS supercharged, so im really confused right now lol.

are you saying a 4 banger cannot hang with the v-8s and rotaries. If you are then you are mistaken. Plus the cavaliers used a 2.2 l. The ss supercharged come with a 2.0l. Now with that low compression they are running lets change the pully. put on a full exhaust and modify or get a whole computer system and then tune it and then what do you think they will be running. Lets be fair. IF you are going to run stock for stock. They aren't all that fast. But if you are modifying your car let him be able to put the same mods or something comparative then you will see. You gotta remember all the emissions stuff on these cars. All the power is thier you just have to know how to get it. plus i believe they are rated at like 220hp at the crank and 200 ftlbs. I am not 100% sure on those numbers but they are close.
