Caught an unholy ***-whooping from a GTR

First, I don't ever streetrace. However, if I come across a sweet car I will play around just to see the thing in action.

Now, I left work early today and went to the liquor store. As I was sitting at a stoplight, I see a gray GTR roll up in my side mirror. I have seen a couple of them around here but they were all on transport trailers. I haven't been all that impressed with the looks of the thing, but I roll down my window anyways and talked to the guy for a quick second and said "You are going to rape me but let's have some fun". I had a much better launch than him and had about a half a car on him through first gear. Once I shifted to 2nd however, he was ******* gone. I let off at about 70mph because there was clearly no point. Very fast car, it sounds pretty cool too.

And before anyone complains, this is a 4 lane, 55mph road and the flow of traffic is typically 65mph. Once again I only play around with cars that I want to see in action, Ferraris, Lambo's, Vipers, Porsche Turbo's, not that I think I have any chance in hell, but to see someone put the hammer down and admire.

Ha yeah, my car isn't slow or anything, no dyno but with the tune and mods I should be putting down 250hp and 300 ft/lb of torque. It pulls like a raped ape through first gear, but I wouldn't exactly consider it to be fast, nor do I bother playing with comparable cars cause I really don't care. It's my daily driver, it is quick, it handles well, and it gets good mileage.

Good info...
I haven't seen any one the road yet BUT hopefully when I do, I will be driving my 400HP 1st Gen and I can keep up with him for a little bit....

Exactly, sometimes it is tough to get some of these guys to play with you, but it depends on what you are driving. I've ran a couple of F430's around here up to 3rd gear just cause I think they are awesome, but I've had twice as many owners just look over at me like "yeah, I'm not bothering with your shitty Audi". I've found that most Porsche drivers love to play, new M3 and M5 drivers will play, Viper drivers typically won't bother, Lambo and Ferrari drivers usually won't bother, and Aston Martin drivers don't even pay attention. I ran across a Veyron on my 2 mile commute one day as well, and I couldn't even get him to look over at me.

There are a few R8's running around here as well and I know 2 of the owners, who I've had some fun with. We actually ran one in my friends 2007 Carrera S before he traded it for an M3, that was a lot of fun. Ran a RUF 650 in my friends RS4 once too, and that was an awesome vehicle. You'd be amazed at the cars I see around here on a daily basis. I know that Atlanta is no SoCal, but there is a hell of a lot of money in this area and some extremely nice cars. I see at least one or two Maserati's, Aston Martins, Bentley's, or Ferrari's daily on my drive to and from work. ****, there is a guy who lives down the street from me who has a GT40. Only problem is that he is like 65 and drives the thing like a 65 year old.

Sounds like the area I work in, lots of nice **** everywhere! My car seems to get more notice from the older guys, haven't quite figured that one out yet.

Strangley enough they seemed more willing to mess around when I was in my busted *** FC, I had some asshat in a twin turbo V12 mercedes try to race me. I look over and just went "You're kidding right?" And then there was a C6 ZO6 on the freeway, thing was a beast. He'd stomp on it and let me catch up, gave him a thumbs up then went on my way.

There are always some surprises. I've found that most people want to **** with me when I am on my bike. I've had countless Civics, 350Z's, Accords, Bimmer's, etc rev on my when I am on my bike. I won't even bother with that, I know there is no point.

I think people will rev on an FC because a lot of people don't know what it is. My FC looks real nice on the exterior, but is still slow as hell. I get taunted all the time when I am in the thing, but it is debadged and has a kit on it, so unless you are really into cars you would not know what it was.

Yeah who knows, my FC looked bad so I don't know why they bothered. Maybe they needed an ego boost?

Hahah, its just like when I'm going down the same street/highway with a Ferrari or Lambo. They usually come from behind, spot my car, speed up and pull up next to me with the rear of their car at about my fender and then drop a gear or two and just pace. I give em the wave and smile of "I've got nothing for ya, bro" and they always give me a little display of power and then one more offer to play.

Damn i havent encountered a GTR riding side by side with me but my friend recorded his E55 AMG racing a GTR on westside highway in new york or something. I told him to upload the video on youtube but the GTR just left it.

I've seen a black GTR revving out gears in Murray Hill (east 30s) on cross streets a few times, I wonder if it's the same guy.....

I've had a few F-cars rev at me. I don't know why they would rev at a Mustang except to get an ego boost. I make sure to rev back though.

This reminds me of the time I raced a lamborghini in my xb at an intersection. It was one of those intersections that merges into one lane immediately on the other side of the intersection.

we were both stopped at a red light and his lane was the one that dissapeared, so i figured **** it, i want to atleast hear this thing and watch it go fast. So I turned off my music, rolled down my window and floored it when the light turned green. He did the same thing apparently because I got my *** kicked. it was cool though.

Personally I don't think GTRs are that special. They are way to common nowadays, and an FD is a better track car anyway. If your all about power, a supra will rape a GTR anyday.

I saw this guy in Manhattan a few months ago.

There is another one on Long Island somewhere, some rich kids parents bought it for him AFTER he WRECKED a Z07. Mommy and daddy are loaded out the ying yang. My cousin has met him i think. Probably only 19 years old.

lol Do you even know some track times a stock GTR can make? It runs circles around FD's and supras.

You cant compare, the GTR is in a class of its own. Engineering, quality, technology is light years ahead of the FD and supra.

Haahaa. You really think GTRs are all that amazing? Anyone ever atually driven one?

They were amazing for their time, yes. The R32 was years ahead of anything else on the road. But by 93 it was nothing special. Has anyone seen old Best Motoring vids?

The FD did better... Light weigh, good weight distribution, etc. The FD is still the king of the Touge remember? It destroyed the MCR R34.

The GTR is an amazing machine, but its legendary status is due partly to the fact that it was never sold in the US.

So did he void the warranty???

There's a red GT-R at work, haven't seen the owner. Has personalized plates "GOJIRA"... took me a while to figure out.
