C6 Z06 vs Shelby Cobra 427R, no vid
I got up this AM and went for a spin in my Superformance Shelby Cobra. I gave up the street racing bit, but I figured people would be out on the 4th of July in their toys and I might enjoy seeing what they're driving.
I spotted a guy with a Ferrari 360 Modena. He was zinging it up with some spirited driving. I just checked it out and enjoyed the shinny black paint and fancy aftermarket wheels. It looked and sounded very cool, but seemed quite slow.
A minute or two later I made a right turn and a Black C6 Z06 drove up behind me. With all the hype on the net I've wanted one of these next to my car for performance evaluation. My car is about 2500 lbs with me in it and 600ish corrected engine HP. I looked over at the Corvette to confirm C6 Z06 intake hole in hood, flared fenders and Z06 badges. He then zipped by me and let off to match my speed. I put it in second gear and we looked at each other. He took off, so I nailed it and smoked by him like he was sitting still. I hit third gear for a maybe a 1 second blip, was about five cars up and shut down. We hit a red light and he looked over and gave me a nice look and wave and I returned the compliment with a nice car and thumbs up. The light turned green and he nailed it again. I did the same, but had to get back the car length he jumped on me. Pretty much I just rolled in, nailed it and roared by given I had my ultra sticky Mickey Thompson ET street radials on my car. I hit second and it made the C6 Z06 look a bit like he had put his car in reverse. I turned off right a mile or so down and got ready to head home. As I sat at a red light amazingly he pulled up to me again and motioned to pull over and talk. We did. He was a cool guy. He and his buddy just bought two of the C6 Z06s, his used with 1500 miles for 85,000.

Today in Scottsdale the desity altitude came out around 6000 ft this morning with weather conditions calculated on actual elevation. That turns the C6 Z06 into a 13 second club car.
Most of the C6 Z06 data you see on line which displays as impressive is info from desity altitude near or even below sea level. Magazines usually correct their times for sea level zero humidity too.

I saw a c6 z06 here at the track and we have the same "slower than other areas" issue. He ran mid 12's @ less than120mph all day.

I've had the good fortune to ride in a Superformance Shelby Cobra and while the FD is great to drive, it is nothing like a cobra. After having riden in my friends cobra this past April, I honestly cannot understand why anyone would spend 85K on a Z06 corvette when they could drive a cobra.
As for the Superformance being a "replica," technically you could say yes, but my friends has a Ford VIN number and is actually registered as a 1965. Carol Shelby actually endorses the company (Superformance) that manufacturer's the car. As I understand it, the cars are built in Africa, and shipped to the states. It is up to the buyer to decide what power plant they want.

It's hard to beat a brand new Superformance for quality and originality at about 10% to 15% the price of the original. They are faster, handle better, stop faster and there's no worries of getting a dent if you lean on the car as they're fiberglass. The only thing that sucks is everyone asks, "Is it real," because it looks so authentic.
I would like some day to get together a group of guys with assorted cars for video action.

your power to weight is abit better than his.
i think at sealevel in great conditions you could see low 10s at 136-138 with decent launch.. if you cut good 60s then possible high 9's. hard to say tho. 100shot would definately be nice for 9's

Here's a pass on a day of density altitude of 4500 ft. My third gear synchromesh was gone, so don't laugh at my 2 to 3 shift. I launch a touch over idle. The Mercedes is a V12 twin turbo with RENNTech stuff putting it around 725 HP and 900 something ft/lbs. It's a guy I know that has a pile of exotic modified cars. For the pass in the video the Mercedes knocked off a 1.5 60ft, so I had to catch up with my asleep at the tree launch and 1.8 60ft. I had a low 11 @ 126 mph or so. Remember it's a DA of 4500 ft. I don't think I'd want to launch the car hard at the strip and break things for a better time. It's easier and less expensive to just subtract a couple tenths from the idle launch of 1.8 60ft knowing a hard launch of a 1.4xx is possible.

There are a bunch of other videos in the link with assorted modified exotics. The times put the challenging density altitutude day into perspective.

Awesome race. I have ran my Pop's Factory 5 Cobra a few times. The power to weight is just amazing. I've killed a STI Impreza, a supercharged Bullit Mustang, and a C5 Z06 with it. The car is just amazing to drive and the looks that people give it make it worth every dollar spent. I want the superformance Daytona Coupe. But it's way out of my price range right now. My Pop's car has a fuel injected 347 in it that's making about 400hp. Nothing to crazy just a great street car that is realiable and above all else, streetable.

It looks like the guy nails it around 30-35 or so in 1st gear and goes 2nd, 3rd, 4th, up to about 120-130 judging on how my car is geared.

That video is so damn true. That was pretty much my reaction to the car when I drive it. Something about the exhaust exiting right next to your ear and the squirrley feeling the car gets. Damn I want to go drive it again!!!!
