Another victory for the auto FD

I was hanging out with some friends at our local spot , not much there tonight but a few ricers. Stood around BSing for a while until everyone was ready to call it a night. I decided to take a lap down where everyone cruises on my way home. I see something behind me trying to get get past some stray traffic, a Camaro. He gets next to me and takes off a few times trying to get me to run, its a LS1 Z28, so I figure it should be a good race. I played it cool for another block or so just to make sure we'd have enough road, this guys taunting me the whole time speeding up slowing back down, trying to show me he's cool.

Traffics clear up ahead and he takes off again, I follow. I get to about 3-4 cars behind and this *** downshifts and takes off, he's not getting away that easy. I punched it but waited too late he's too far up for me to close the gap. A few more blocks later we get a light he's already stopped, I'm slowing down just before I was stopped the light turns green. I pull even with him at about 20mph and we both go for it. First gears over and I'm a half car up, second gear a full car, third gear, a little more, I let up around 120 with just over a car on him, yay for the auto fd again. I was happy, but the best part is that my brother was following us in his Jaguar x-type, he pulls up to my window laughing and yelling "fire, fire". LOL I just laugh and gave him a thumbs up he's like "there was all kinds of sparks and **** coming out your tailpipe" I just laughed again and was like yeah its running a little rich. rotary -> <- LS1

Thats why I love turbos and altitude. Makes it a little easier for me to take these N/A cars.
I'm just downpipe, catback, intake, PFS purple at 12 psi and a bit too rich. The haters will probly be in here soon enough. Most stock LS1 's run anywhere from a high 13 to a low 14 at our local tracks and thats where I expect to be, or atleast have the trapspeed to make those times since its an auto and all.

Even a stock automatic FD is pretty quick from a 20mph roll. A lot of the 'haters' would be surprised.
Good kill.

Nope they lose a full second at altitude 6000-6500 feet. Our 2 local tracks are 4800 and 5800 ft DA's are usually well above that.

It is uncanny how the performance of a normally aspirated engine falls off at altitude. I remember taking my Camaro thru Colorado several years ago, and at Wolf Creek pass I thought I was going to have to get out and pedal. And it had the H.O. engine in it.
