Well i was just cruising along normal driving the speed limit on the interstate when i see some HIDs coming real fast behind me. I look to the right just as a white new honda SI with stickers all over, ( no wing mind you) speed by going 100+. I pay no attention since i usually dont look for races. ANYWAYs, this guy slow all the way to a crawl and waits for me to catch up (im still driving speed limit) and i slowly pass him. As i pass him he starts feathering the throttle and then just pins it. Well, it was an open road (kinda) and so i said what the hell. I go WOT and take a couple passes around random people so i can get on a straightaway next to him and literally leave him in the dust ( 3 cars and then i shutdown). We both get off at same exit but he doesnt want to talk at light for some reason and checking out his ride it dident look too bad, had a performance exhaust( not the coffee can one), tien coilovers (one of the stickers said it) and a microtech (sticker also, so im guessing here) I drive a pretty much stock t2 other then exhaust and intake which isnt much of a fair race anyways between the two.

Was it the newest model si? This kid i know has one claiming he spanks 350z's and can keep up with GTO's i call BS on him but i dont know much about the new si's.

 

Well the new Si runs High 14's/Low 15's...so there's no way he can spank 350z's & keep up with GTOs...not in a straight line at least...but, it should rape a TII.

Sorry to bust your bubble, Honda STOPPED making 3 door hatches in 03. So it wasnt any newer than a 03, and the dont have nearly 197 HP. New SI's have a wing on the trunk and I-vtec decal in front of the rear wheel, and a 6sp tranny with LSD. BTW the new SI sedans hit the dealer about a month ago. The new SI are a FAR CRY from a v8 GTO so your friend is full of ****. BTW here is a Mugan SI sedan I did for SEMA, as well as a pic from the first SI sedan shoot.

Si is garbage, lack of power is compensated by 6 gears that redline reletivley quickly, hence the illusion of speed.
Beating a 350z is no accomplishment.
A gto on the other hand is respectable, 6.0L especially.

 

You hit it right on the head, almost!!! BTW if you not convinced, the 06+ SI has a 4.765 ring gear. 1-5 are VERY close ratio, 6th only for MPG.

yea, the hatchback si's of that year only have 160hp. The new ones have the same motor as an rsx type s just with 3 less hp for some reason.

 

Umm. i'm almost positive they made the hatch in 04 too.
Not all 06 Civic Si's have a wing.
If your friends Si is turbo'd then i can belive he took a stock GTO but if he is still N/A, then yeah bullshit.

 

Dude, not to diss ya, but I deal with honda all day long. The last hatch was 03, AND ALL SI's came with a wing from the factory. I know this as fact or I wouldnt speak up. Refer back to the first page with the pics, the last pic is the SI sedan in it's debut shoot. It has the stock wing on it. The blue SI has a mugen wing on it.

 

Ok...might make people mad...My friend has an EG Coupe (1992-1995 civic) that was a factory d16y6 motor (SUCKY)...well the best motor swap for a honda is the k-series (si's, rsx's, as well as CRV's...but CRV's have the 2.4l, while the civic's and si's have the 2.0L) Okay. My friend has the type-s motor out of the rsx in his, running Chroms software to adjust anything in the motor that he wants. He just bought a turbo from crazyjames over on honda-tech. Pushing over 600hp. This car isnt rice (stickers, body kits, HUGE wheels, mirror tint, wing...all of which are examples of ricers) He's beat vett's w/o his turbo. ITS ALL THE DRIVERS!!!! and an EP3 hatch's weigh a TON which means SLOW! So big motor, littler car....20b? little car? Its all the same. I have respect for any kind of genre of cars. There style, not yours.

My friend in his MR2 ran into a turbo 05+ Si on the freeway the other day. The civic ran away from him and his mr2 is no slug. I was pretty amused though because he is the biggest hondahater I've ever met.
