97 Tiburon Vrs 91 Prelude

My Stock Tiburon vrs my buddies "new" 91 Prelude auto vtect si with muffler. 5 run during the course of the night all in rain. the whole night he talked about the $800
17' tires that came with it.

1.off a little turn we both spun tires, he spun more, i pulled about 5 car leghts by 60
2.both still spun beat him about 2 lengths to 50
3.beat by car leght to 40 or so

we eat supper and hes talking that hes losing so much traction and thats why hes not keeping up, im like and those are your $800 tires? so much for those.
the way home

4. the closest run. both get a good start and i win by 1/2 lenght at 60ish
5. pulled off the line to 50 with 5 lengths.

hes all like wait till it dries up i was spinning tires till 4th gear(odd i only got into 3rd at most the whole night)

you would think by the 5th run he would learn not to spin tires at the start.
now he wants to race in dry weather.

not a great kill but its funny to see him make excuses. we shall see when it dries

a 91??? a 3rd generation???!? Omg, those are umm....yeah. 135 hp, 125 tq for the SI version. I don't even think it had VTEC then. 92-96 was the 4th generation, when they had a good VTEC engine. They had S, SI and SI vtec model. S was a N/A 2.2L 140hp/tq sohc engine. SI was a 160hp/tq 2.3L DOHC engine (non vtec) and the SI Vtec was 2.2L 190hp/150tq DOHC engine. THe Vtec one was pretty quick (quicker than the new body style preludes....same engine less weight). But the Vtec ludes were quite rare. S and SI flooded the market, but not many Vtecs. So if he had a 92 then I can beleive he probably had the SI (non vtec). That sounds more logical. I know those V6 Tiburons aren't really all that quick (you have V6 right? or the 4 banger). If you have the 4 banger, then I believe you when you say it's a 91.

edit: also, he probably seriously just can't drive. If he was spinning tires that bad (rain or not). I had a 4th gen S model prelude. I could keep up with many things that shoudl've beat me (other weak cars that were slightly above my league) becuase I could launch it. It was easy to spin in rain, but you could control it rather simply by modulating throttle and clutch.

Bottom ones? that is 3rd generation. 2.0 SI is the 135/125, then there is a 2.1SI with 140hp/133tq. So yeah, the 4 banger, that is prolly a decent race. Honestly, I'd say he probably shoudl've beat you. Both being FWD, I'm not sure about your weight, but he is 26xx depending on engine size. and his $800 tires. LoL, why did he put so much emphasis on them? Price doesn't always define quality. hell when I had my prelude, I got the goodyear eagle f-1's ($131 a piece, and they were better than the michelins, perelli, bfgoodrich, etc, etc, available on tirerack, that would match up to my rims). The michelins were the worst of the bunch and cost $250 a piece. But tires make a big difference, but he needs to learn how to drive.

yup bottom, i know it has the vtech bandge and i could have sworn to see it on the motor.

http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm

shows the car being an 88 with 4ws and being about half sec slower, so without the 4ws makes him faster? not sure on my weight.

Ahhh, the 4WS adds about 70#s I guess. The 1988 only had the 2.0SI, but 91 I know had the option for 2.1. So if he got that, he had a slight jump in HP & TQ. It is probably a good even drivers race between the two cars.

also, chance are the vtec badge was fake. You would be amazed how many S & SI 4th gen ludes I saw with a "Powered by VTEC" or "VTEC POWER" or just plain "VTEC" badge on those cars, when they don't have Vtec. So retarted.
