Ok so last week my girlfriend got a 91 300zx n/a from her dad (graduation present), so i went to her house looked at it and everything and it is nice (perfect condition) but the thing was: her dad comes out of the house and starts talking to us after like 10 min. he tells me that he would kill my rx7 any time with that 300 (I knew that was coming) so I said lets go! to not sound scare but I really didnt want to go cause my fan clutch was stuck, but he actually said no cause he had to pass the insurance to his name, so that was wednesday and by saturday I had already put a new fan on (electric) so I asked my gf if he still wanted to go and she said let me ask him, well she did and it all started, (now to the point) It was sunday afternoon i went to her house and there he was waiting for me so we took off to a long strait road near my house, I was getting kind of nervous cause I had asked about this race in here and they told me that on a drag I was gonna get killed, so we got lined up and ready, I had to explain to him all the 3 horns thing and we were ready,bam...bam...bammmmm...got it up to 4k and dropped it, left him 4 cars behind till I dropped 2nd and he was like 2 cars now and closing up then hit 3rd by the time I was on 3rd he was right with me and when i threw forth I started gaining up on him again like a fender when I hit like 105 I let go cause I got to the sign that would be the end. In conclusion I took him by just a little more than a fender but he sucks at driving dough.=)

my mods:
k&n cone filter, electric fan, lightweight flywheel, racing clutch (some weird brand), tokiko adjustable chocks, hks exhaust, toyo proxes 17" 205, and I think thats it.

 

He must have spun out bad. Ive gotten my *** handed to me by a 300z n/a.

i raced a stock one a wile back, and by the end of second gear i had at least 3-4 cars on him, with conefilter, rb mufflers and no ac or pw!

 

Sounds cool to race your GF's dad. Let me just say the electric fan probably did nothing in the way of any gain in HP, and why were you shifting at only 4K?

 

As in, dropped the clutch at 4k...

I'm still waiting to race my buddies ZX, with exhaust and intake. Mods in sig... I feel like I'd whoop him.

 

I dont know why its putting that its my first post, but whatever, ohh and I forgot to put in my mods rb headers, well yeah I dont think is a good idea to beat your gf dad (I kind of regret it), I dropped the clutch at 4k cause my tranny is making noises so dont wanna risk it, the fan did work alot better, when I had the stock one it was stock on and everytime I would pass 3.5k it would make the engine shake alot and would make a crazy loud noise.
but thanks and ill be doing it again and the next time I race him ill tape it. Ohh and I think the reason why I left him so far on the startup is because he only dropped the clutch at like 2k (cant drive)...

Check your motor mounts.

I drop the clutch on my FC at 3200-3500. His car actually has torque, **** I lauch my SHO at 2200RPM usually and spin until 2nd . I know the 300ZX is a much torquier car. So maybe he was trying to launch it the vehicles attributes.
