89 Vert VS 2007 Mustang

First a list of mods done to the car....

-89 Vert with an auto rear end(4.10 rear end) and 5 speed trans.
-Rebuilt motor with s4 rotors and pratically new rotor housing (from a car with 20k miles on it) everything else is s5 stuff
-No cats just a straight pipe to a old school Dual HKS exhaust.
-rx7.com Bonez intake

Everyone that has gone for a ride in this car said it runs like a stock s4 Turbo II car. The person that built the motor (about 6k miles ago) said for some reason this motor just runs like crazy.

Now i was driving down the road and came to a light. We both stopped and he looked over at me and revved. i just htough in my head you have to be kidding me.... He took off and I though what the heck lets see what this car can do... He was about 2 car lengths ahead of me when I decied to get on it. I pulled like crazy right past him hitting about 100 MPH. I though man, either this 7 is freakishly quick or that v6 mustang is very slow.... In the end I just though that the mustang was just very slow... I thought they had more then that with the 4.0 liter V6 rated at 210hp to the flywheel. I guess it didn't help that his was an automatic.. What do you guys and gals think???

But something about this vert is just crazy, not to sure what it is. I've owned quite a few NA rx7's that were coupes that didn't run like this. That and it gets about 300 to 350 miles to the tank (mixed city highway driving) which is crazy if you ask me.........

Anyways, thanks for reading...

Did you ever have your car dyno'd? It would be interesting to see if it's putting down more than what's normal for that setup.

Maybe the person who built the motor did a "secret" port job. That would be awesome.

At idle it sounds kinda like it has a port job. He said that if he did anything then it was just a touch up... This car is as close to perfect I have ever seen a 7 being... Idles perfect at 800 rpms, smooth all the way to redline. The car had been in his family for the past 11 years and he would get bored and take stuff off like the wiper arms and powdercoat them black. He even went as far to take the tow hooks off the back of the car and powdercoat them... I found one hell of a deal, from one hell of a guy....

Why did you put s4 rotors in there? I'm assuming your non-turbo. To add to this discussion after owning both s4 and s5's i think the s4 engine is superior. It seemed to have more torque and pulled to redline faster. When i modded both cars (intake, downpipe, no cats, and 2.5in catback) the s4 would eat the s5 alive. Maybe it was the weight difference I'm not sure. However i did have a 91 s5 which was a bit heavier than the 89 s5's due to saftey requirements.

Also never bet on a v6 mustang beating anything except older v6 mustangs...they've always been absolute garbage.
