88rx-7 vs CRX

*Disclaimer* This story is Ficticious and is set on a ficticious road that does not exist. The road is also set on ficticious private property in a ficticious over seas country.

Co-worker and I have been wanting to take our cars out for a little run, and tonight after closing we finally gave it a go. His setup from what I am aware is a 1.8l acura swap, with headers, no cats, cold air intake, and maybe a few things here and there. Mine is a 13b s4 with headers/presilencer, rb mufflers, ported throttlebody and coldair intake. His CRX is also almost completly gutted except for 2 stock seats, and a 12" sub in the back. Mine is completly stock interior, with everything intact.

Of course before any race I gave my car a chance to warm back up and be happy. After doing so we drove down the street and looped around and we both lined up. The first out of two goes we both lines up even enough and he told me "on three." So he revs his engine steady and so do I and proceeds to count. On three I drop the clutch (at 3,500-4,000) and get a decent tire spinage and is a pretty good take off all-in-all. So of course I have an amediate lead on him and gained a constant close to 1-2ft per second on him. I hit 7,000 rpms and shifted to second but missed it and grinded. While during the misshift I remembered no gain or loss of the lead, but after I got it into second I kept the gain going. I shut down after about a quarter mile, and never shifted into 3rd if that tells you anything about how far we went.

We both got a good kick out of it and asked me to go again. So back down the street and lined it. This time he wanted me to count to three so I did. At the end of the count I took off holding my revs at about 3k, and after I dropped the clutch my rpms fell on me and had to start from about 2k rpms. So obviously he had a quick jump on me and his door was about at my front end. Once I hit the secondaries it was all over. Quickly took the lead and had him at my rear before I shutdown at about the same place.

Then we both gave jumping highfives and drove off intot he sunset.

End.

Stock 1.8L = 140 hp. Stock CRX=2200lbs. Lightened with bigger motor 2000-2200lbs.

Stock 13B = 146 hp. Stock RX-7 = 2600-2800lbs.

Ended the 1/4 mile in 2nd gear? 60mph trap speeds?

Interesting.

**** I dunno. I said from what I was aware. It may not of been a 1.8l swap it still may of been the stock 1.6. Also I don't know if it was a quarter of a mile or not, and looking back at it I may of shifted into 3rd, but wasn't in it until redline. This was my 2nd "drag race" experience. If anything seems a little fishy to any of you drag racing gods, i wouldn't doubt it.

heres one really big way to tell; 1.8 acura motor (b18a1, b18bi most liikely) is dohc, and the stock d16 is sohc....so if u got to see it at all its immediatly noticeable. Not to mention that ive known some b18 crx's and they are anything but slow.

Acutally first off:

http://www.autotrader.com/research/c...p?restype=used

Go there and check a 1988-1991 CRX Si (about the middle weight one). Its curb weight is about 1800lbs to 2100 on a 91. So with a B18 block its still pushing 140 to the flywheel. Like others has said.

Either its BS or your friend sucks at driving.
