CRX or Engine Rebuild?

My 18th birthday is soon to come up, and because of this my mother wants to buy me something worthwhile. She has already agreed to buy me the parts i need to get my car back together and running again, but i'm starting to want a CRX as my winter beater and a daily driver for college. Borrowing my mother's Camaro everyday for school isn't exactly cost effective for a 60 mile a day daily drive. The camaro is in pretty phenominal shape and i don't want to wreck it because of snow. What is your input?

I can't find them below $600, they seem to be getting more and more popular and because of this the price is going up. I'm not doing a full rebuild so the price to rebuild mine will be around $200 total.

Let her buy you the CRX and use it for the winter. In the spring you will have the 7 back toghther for the summer.

I will do both, that's a given, it's just which one to do first. I want to get the Rx-7 rebuilt soon before winter hits hard and the weather would still permit me doing so, on the other hand, that could wait until spring. I'm just unsure what i want to do, i can already tell this thread is going to be about 50/50 either way.

CRXs aren't too uncommon to find cheap, i do have my eye on one though for $600. They do get excellent gas milage like you said dan, something i've never expirenced with a 13b and a V-8 camaro. Spending $30 a week in gas gets to be redicules.

Get a fuel injected one... The Carbureted ones are a PITA to work on.

It's really car's against winter. I hate RWD in the snow, i wrecked my Rx-7 last winter because of it.
