You're probably gonna get raped man. Modded Z's are no laughing matter. Very quick cars to begin with and with those mods, you will get walked on hard. Not being a dick, just tellin you the truth.

Depends on what kind/how long a "race" you're running.
The straight six Nissan engine is a torque monster (although your friend did himself no favors with the downdraft Webers- the "toilet bowl" intakes on those kits are hideous) and he'll easily suck your doors off through 3rd gear.
After that, who knows.

haha i just raced my friend today in his 73 240z.

we did a u turn onto the entrance to the freeway and i thought we were gonna wait for three honks, but he goes and when hes like a bus length and a half ahead of me i realize hes not gonna slow, lol, so i shift into second and basically i catch up to him doin 130 or so and pass him with ease. yeah,

not tryin to thread jack but if you get him on the road i think you might be able to take him. my buddy has the inline 6 with the block with the later year head or something or another to increase the compression. the previous owner did it. ironically the previous owners name is mike and he works on rx7s. the z also has some other mods but im not sure. header/exhaust, suspension work, and idk what else.

hes all "looked like you had a hard time playing catch up" and i chuckled and told him i didnt realize wed go for it RIGHT after we complete the turn at the light.

im sure fully tune the inline 6 could be pretty sweet.

many people don't know how to tune carbs so hope he is not one of those people. as for a long term race he would probably pull you up to 100 and then you would be playing catch up.

i've seen highly modded old school Z's put up about the same HP figures as a lightly modded n/a 7 but they have instant torque with the inline 6 so he will pull you off the line but the 7 has longer gears and can rev higher so in a 0-120 race it would be a close one with the 7 having the advantage.

Your fc will prob get smashed. As for tkit213, you have an fa/fb, with 13b 6 port, so you should be well off.

wow this was a bit odd to read the title...

I have an 86' FC n/a 5spd and my buddy has a 73' Datsun 240Z with a ZXT swap...

so when I read 86 FC vs. 73 Datsun I was like.. WHOA why knows I am gonna race him lol

in most cases Z ftw. however let me give u one good note... froma 20mph roll I stayed neck and neck with my buddies Z on 10psi untill I had to shift... now remember this I was in 2nd he was to by the time I shifted he was in 3rd going into 4th do to his lower rpm limit and gearing.. so yeah even with shifting I was only able to stay next to him once I shifted he pulled and walked...

so yeah good luck I hope u have better luck but I was smoked..

btw here is a pic of my buddies Z (a link I should say)

The z definitely has the torque advantage from the launch, but anything after that and i say you will catch him for sure, but there is only one way to find out...
