While I had my last FD with a few mods, stock engine and stock twins, modified stock air box, stock intercooler, Power FC 12 psi, fuel pump full exhaust, 300 wheel HP, I purchased a stock C5 Z06 with 900 miles on the car for the purpose of testing performance. From 40mph to 120mph the FD would invariable gain 40ft over the Z06.

I beat many stock and modified C5 Z06s in my 300 wheel HP FD. The majority of the wins were due to less than perfect driving by the other guy. This is why I purchased my own C5 Z06, so I could test the car properly.

My same 300 wheel HP FD beat a couple single turbo FDs from free way rolls. One of them 3 times in a row while the car was about 270 wheel HP. He claimed 450 wheel HP and had Power FC 15 psi, full exhaust, larger injectors, fuel system, front mount intercooler, not to forget the giant aftermarket front end to slow him down because of aero drag. Higher HP doesn't mean higher performance for acceleration. Linear power through the useful gear range is key. When I raced that guy it was the funniest thing as I pulled on him through lower rpm to hear his turbo hit, whoosh!, for a fraction of a second at the top of each gear to real back in a couple feet. I smoked the dude hard over and over.

Keep in mind the bulk of FDs out there aren't seeing their best days and have been goofed with enough to were they run nothing like they're suppose to. My FD had under 20,000 miles of which the first 16,000 miles, 10 years of life, were put on by an older gentleman which kept the car in a climate controlled garage. The car was tight like no other FD I've ever had, basically like when they were new.

I sold my final nearly flawless FD to a woman that hopped in and lit up a cigarette, the first the car had ever had inside. Later that car went on to have the serial number used fraudulently to rip people off with my pictures from Autotrader.com. Go figure.
