Talking 400 whp FD vs. 525 whp SVT Cobra (Vid)

So i have a friend with a 2003 svt cobra mustang with some mods. Me and him raced when he had a ported blower and the supporting mods and we were pretty close with me just a little faster. I guess losing to me lit the fire under his pants and he put a whipple supercharger and some more fuel to compensate for the added supercharger on the car. It was dynod at 525 rwhp at 13 psi on a mustang dyno i believe. My car put down 386 rwhp at 15 psi on the dyno at PFsupercars(dont remember what kind). I have a video i will be putting up shortly and you can all see the results. =)

Now you raced him before and won. Then he went out a bought a few goodies and now has 525 RWHP. But you never stated if you raced him again (with his new mods) nor who won. By the tittle of the thread I am going to assume that you did indeed race once more.

I have a few Q's:

So who won the last race?

Were your mods during the first race the same as they are now? What was his RWHP at that time?

Few goodies? That blower set up is $3600.00 not to mention the support items and the SCT software.( I have a SC Harley truck)
Serious Kill. If he uses drags on the stang he can hit 11.40 at the track.

I raced him when he was making 475 rwhp and won. I then recently raced him with his new set up and the same set up for me and the cobra wins. You will see in the video, he is on the whipple supercharger in it..

you are quoting me because I typed "few goodies"? bro I meant it in a general term as to summarize that he modified his car further... To no reference as to what level of performance those "goodies" provide.

just a tad too intense man

cool thanks for clarifying. Yeah I was wondering of the outcome since you said that you were slightly faster on the first race.

Just curious, but shouldn't a GT40 at 15 psi be doing a bit better than 386rwhp?
No offense intended. Could you list your other mods?

My car is running on a bone stock mazda reman including the ports. I have a full 3" exhaust, 1600cc secondaries, nippondenso pump, greddy 2 row fmic, power fc tuned by Ray Wilson at PFS. The engine being stock is what is killing my hp numbers right now. I know a couple guys arond me that have dynod 415-420 hp on their fd's, and on 15psi i run right next to them. So its a little weird.

is a gt40 is bigger then the 500r/? just curious as i am considering going 500r on my stock ports. but i would be pretty pissed if i went out and spent that much money only to net an extra 25 rwhp. ya know i mean.

88. The 40r is a dual ball bearing gt40-88.

I'm pretty sure that the 500r is a combination between the 35r and 40r. So you get the spool of the 35r with the power potential of the 40r. Talk to the guys at A-spec about it, they can give you more info on it then i can.

500R is a GT35 T4 housing. Spools faster than a GT40 but the claim is just slightly less top end. Check out the Aspec site.

All other things being equal, for this GT40R car, what hp increase could/should he see with a mild streetport?

Thumbs up Just saying

My boy has a fd down pipe full exhaust pfc intake intercooler boost controller and other small mods runs it on race fuel got a caobra so many times to many to count. The cobra went out got an intake, full exhaust, tb, heat exchanger, pullies, and up the boost to 13, got my boy by 4-5 cars it was a disaster. Those cobras get props cuz when they upgrade they make mad hp. Good luck man In my personal opinion i think it's driving technique but you can't always count on that.
