You sure the Lambo driver didn't just suck ***? Seemed like he had some serious jump... but as soon as he switched gears he died like a lil bitch...

lol. i hate comments like this. there is much more to a car than straight line performance. not saying the lambo would beat it on a road coarse either. i am juts saying thats it a lambo for crysake!

Doesn't the lambo have paddles, so how did the lambo lose so much ground when it shifted?

I will still take the Lambo over the Zo6 any day of the week. I love zo6 but the damn thing will be dime a dozen in a couple of months whereas the Lambo will still be a rare find. That's just my .02.

It doesnt seem as though the Z floored it until the second shift of the Gallardo. Would anyone be able to give backstory on the Z06? Any mods?

Gallardo's come in both 6spd F1-type manual and 6spd Manual...with clutch and stick. This one sounds like it was a 6spd Manual.

Not to take anything away from the Z-06 but i'm sure once it topped out the Lambo would have taken him...Gearing makes a world of difference.
Now all I gotta say is "raise the boost"! hehe, thats right neither of them can...LOL

Yes, after the Z06 topped out at 198 mph I'm sure the other car would have caught right up. LOL sorry, just messin' with ya....

Here's the gearing for the two cars. The annihilation would only get worse for the Lamborghini the faster they were to go.

Lamborghini, curb weight 3153 lbs,
6-speed Manual or e.gear Paddle Shift Gearbox
1ST 2.56:1
2ND 1.85:1
3RD 1.42:1
4TH 1.14:1
5TH 0.94:1
6TH 0.81:1
Axel 3.82:1

C6 Z06, curb weight 3132 lbs
Type 6-SPEED MANUAL (M12)
First gear 2.66
Second gear 1.78
Third gear 1.30
Fourth gear 1.00
Fifth gear 0.74
Sixth gear 0.50
Axel 3.42

No one races till they top out their cars. There is always a clearly decided winner by then. The race has to end somewhere. If no one pulls ahead, you have a tie.

I think the gallardo is AWD so that would explain the jump. It might not be, im just guessing because the mercielago is AWD.

Here's a higher res video of the same race.

http://z06zone.com/media-videos/Gallardo_vs_C6Z06.wmv

If you look at the second run the Z06 took it up to about 140 mph or 150 mph

Here's a dash shot for reference
