*Vid*my 97 540I vs 04 350Z base

Hey guys, been awhile since I posted a video now that I no longer have my CYM. I bought a 97 stock 540I 6 speed. Anyways, I raced my good friend's 04 350Z base 6 speed who is also stock. We went from a 40-ish roll and I was expecting to lose pretty badly but was surprised at how relatively close it was. I still lost regardless but it was all in good fun!
Here's the video, enjoy:

Thanks. My shifts weren't as fast as they normally are because the 540I has what is known as a CDV or a Clutch Delay Valve. Basically it limits the speed at how fast the clutch engages/disengages to a set speed via hydraulic pressure. It might have been a little closer if I had the CDV removed, but regardless, he was in front when he let out the gas.

Yes and I miss it everyday but between my Toyota Pick up, the CYM and the girlfriend's Miata we really needed a 4 door. I was very reluctant to sell. I had debated for nearly 6 months before I decided to agressively sell the car. My old CYM now lives in NJ somewhere with a happy new owner

I like the close races like that. Put the camera man in the 350z next time. Video tape it and then report back. Should give you just the advantage needed to win.

It wouldn't have helped. I had my girlfriend taping that race and the 350Z owner had his girlfriend in his car as well. I think even if I booted my 114lb girlfriend out the car it wouldn't have helped much, if any.

O, is that a standard technology for BMW, that CDV?

And i know it might seem dumb but are you gonna do anything to the bimmer? I dont mean like turbo and all that, i meant like any light performance upgrades?

Well I know the CDV was present in E36 and E39 BMWs, I don't know about others.
As for upgrades, it is a luxury car so I'm going to try and keep it relatively quiet. I'm going to replace the cats because they have triggered a CEL and are probably pulling timing. That would explain my somewhat poor gas mileage.
Other than that I'm doing an intake and a quiet exhaust and thats it. Hope to have an honest 300 crank HP and call it a day.
