Track Time

Well i finally made it out to the track today for my first time, i got there late so i only could get one run in. My time was 17.323 at 81.43 MPH. i know for a fact i could have gotten better, i spun a tun off the line.

i was wondering what does every one else launch at? i launched at 4k

o and im on street tires with a RB header and magnaflow muffler.

Defintely lower tire pressure. Are you dumping the clutch or just slipping the clutch? I've managed a 16.09 with RB header and muffler, RB air box, and direct fire.

I hear that with turbo cars, launching in 2nd and slipping the clutch is the best way to go.

Fact or fiction?

depends on many factors...

typically some slipping is good in any car,(but even more in turbos) it keeps the RPM's up and makes the launch smoother which keeps you from snaping the tires loose.

in my opinion if 1st gear should be used... if you can't, you either can't drive, have too much rear gear in the car or not enough tire under it or some combination of the above

ride that clutch a lil man... dumping the clutch snaps the tires loose before the weight can transfer to the rear to give you more grip.
