Three of our guys went to the Nationals this year. John Koster finished 2nd or 3rd I believe in SM. The only time I will ever catch him and his CRX is in a very tight course. He's got me beat hands down horsepower though, and probably weight too. I think my only advantage is correct wheel drive.

I'm catching the supercharged Miata (who finished poorly at the Nationals (20th?) this year) on a regular basis now that I'm on race rubber, but again, only on courses that lack a decent straight section.

There are others too, including Corvettes and Porsche, Lotus. So, I think that I've got some pretty good local competition to judge myself by. But the thing that mainly determines my finishing position is the course.

Without additional horsepower, I'd be nothing but a light snack for the guys at Nationals, which always have very fast courses. More power may be in the works, but will probably wait another year. This year, I'm going to focus purely on handling and pre-race setup, and see how I do. I figure if I can get to the point where I can scrap with these guys, on these course, and hold my own, then once I get the horsepower maybe I'll be able survive a trip the the Nat's. But, with CSP usually faster than SM anyway, and not much chance of catching anything without more power, I might as well move to SM. Either way, this should be an exciting year.

The car is currently in the garage for a suspension teardown/refresh, cooling system replacement, and the addition of roll center blocks and a triangulated strut brace. I keep staring at that Trilink/Panhard setup too, but I'm stubborn and still want to see if I can do this without it. lol.
