stock steering wheel vs racing steering wheel
Im still deciding on what 7 to get, but im askin about the fd steering wheel, how big is it? cause id like alittle more room. I noticed the RE Amemiya has a steering wheel thats 360mm and i was wondering if thats a big difference from the stock one. Also i noticed that their wheel is able to disconnect which woulkd help with theft. So if i could get some info that would be great---Steve

Stock size is 380mm. It really depends on how much space you need. 360mm should be good. Is the RE Amemiya wheel offset or centered? Anyway...it shouldn't hinder your vision of the instrument cluster much.

i've got a momo 350mm one that i feel is just right for the street and autocrossing. the stock one is a little too bulky for my taste. you might check with a race shop for a setup where the steering wheels that disconnects. i don't think it is cheap though.

Serious question... how can you guys stand driving with such teeny tiny steering wheels? I don't feel comfortable without a wheel that's in the 400-430mm range.

The stock steering wheel (at least on the FD) seems just right for me. I would think that a smaller wheel would obstruct the tachometer view. Maybe that's just me ... at 5'10", my view of all the gauges is perfect. I have to slouch a little with the helmet on.
One of the guys in ASP runs his FD with a Momo wheel ... it's pretty small though and it's not circular; looks like an F1 steering wheel without all the buttons and LED's. Is this the same Momo steering wheel that y'all are talking about? And do you feel like you have better control/are more responsive with it?

Try this:

In short 350mm IMO is just right. 320mm obstructs the tach..unless your 5 foot tall or drive in the pimp mode with the seat all the way reclined.
In the beginning I was an aftermaket steering wheel naysayer too...I have absolutely no regrets about installing the wheel.
