Last Mondays project was a Dirt Midget that decided to turn in to the Concrete wall in turn turns at Banks Or. Did plenty of damage.
Fixed, chassis is 4130, all tubes were spudded in and tig welded completely. Was able to straighten the front box section on the fab table and make it square again.
Yeah I know, it isn't a a Roll cage it is tube. And I know it is a roundy rounder car but a kick *** car none the less!

I will drop off my FD to get a cage built in 18 aug, will take some pic when I get it back..
Would take about a week to get it done..

Well this looks like a good thread to get some info out of...
I currenty have a 1983 Rx7 that has a tube chassis setup. I bought the car all done up and looking to put a turbo LS1 in it.
You can see a site about the car from the org. builders: http://www.boostbros.com/
The cage work really looks bad, well not TOO bad for the power lvl they were at. The prev owners ran it fine, but the car was a low 11 second car. With the motor I plan on putting in it, It should make over 1,000RWHP.
So I plan to redo the entire setup, I was wonder if any of you builders in here have a weld in setup for a do it yourselfer or if anyone knows of a kit.

It seems really had to find anything race wise for these cars or for us people with first gens. Lately been thinking about sellign this car and getting a third gen due to that fact.

I would go the NASA California region website and download the rules. I think there is some reference to shops there locally also. Ask the NASA tech in the bay area to refer someone he knows. Thar way you are assured that you will get something that will pass tech.

Not all racing venues allow them because they are considered an attachment point to the chassis so if you are running a Road Race car and can only have 8pt, not legal. No rules for NHRA or Stock Cars. These are even required not on some Rally FIA cages.

I'd call them gussets. The holes have been flared. There's a simple tool to do so, basically two metal discs, one with a convex, the other a concave curve. They go on either side of the metal with a bolt between them, crank it down and you have yourself a flared hole.

Is there any reason you should not use these
to make the bars running down from the rear hoop forward removable? I would like to have a full cage but the car will be driven on the street form time to time and i dont want to have to wear a helemt.

I am not sure I would use in that particular way because of the chance of the tubes to move in case of and accident. I would use a bolt in style. Go to SCCA.com and download the pdf file of the rule book. There is a few examples of appropriate bolt in systems that will work for what you are doing.

My new shop project just came in.
Doing a full cage, pedals, steering column, Seats, lexan, suspension, sheet metal interior plus a few minor things.

Those are NHRA legal up to 8:90. Those are the ones I used in the SCTA Salt C5 Vette. They accepted them there also even thought the rule book did not. They are perfect for the street. Chris Alston www.cachassisworks.com makes them.
