Sweet...I'll be there. Did you watch the rest of the runoffs this year??? I personally think that my favorite so far has been the D-sports production class race. I can't remember what race it was, but there was someone running an FC on last weekends airing of the runoffs. Unfortunately they didn't finish due to mechanical problems on lap 5. It appeared to be N/A, but I didn't get a real good look of the front bumper of the car. A Celica ended up winning the race though (a nice one I might add). But either way the D-sports race was VERY exhilarating! That Audi R8 chassis look-a-like was truly incredible!

All the rx7's in SCCA are N/A's well at least almost all of them. And I think the DSR you are talking about is the Stohr chassie car. Here is some info on it.. http://dsr.racer.net/chassis/stohr/page1.htm

Both first & second Gens can run in E-Prod &/or IT-A. E-Prod is NA only, T-IIs Can run IT-A

GSL-SE 1st gen's or first gens with a run ITS, 2nd gens also run ITS. As far as I know there is no class permiting the TII. 12a 1st gens run ITA or IT7. Yes both 1st and 2nd gens can run E-prod. And you can also run all gen's of RX7's in GT3. The third gen's in GT3 are non turbo 3 rotors.

yes 2nd's run in ITS but thats not a national class, so its wouldnt be part of the runoffs. however, the first gens in ITS were not even close to competative, and the 2nd gens sort of are, but cannot compete with the E36 bims. 1st gen rex's in EP IMO are really awesome. the sound of them shifting 3 to 4 sends sends chills down your spine. rex's can run in GT2 also...

SCCA does not allow turbo cars, MAYBE if you can convince someone it belongs in ITE (if your region even has ITE)

Turbos are not allowed because there is no way to really regulate them. It would end up being who ever has the most money and the ability to crank up the most boost, would win.

thats half of it.... "naturally aspired" engines are easier to regulate. the other half of it is cost. this is supposed to be amateur racing and it would turn into the person with the most money would have the advantage.

SP or ITE is available just about everywhere for turbo cars. The rules vary and you may or may not be competitive but it gives you a place to get your kicks. These are regional only classes.

Yup, Chris is right. The only class a TII could run in would be SP or ITE. In CenDiv, in ITE you could then deal with the TCC Corvettes or.....DJ's real honest-to-God Playboy Cup Porsche 944 Turbo. I believe he still holds the track record in ITE. That is some fast car!

ALL GT3 cars, regardless of body, have carburated, bridgeported 12a engines. There were a number of 3rd Gen bodied cars and 2nd Gen bodied cars there this year. There was a 3rd Gen car there at a National earlier in the year in GT2 with a 13b, but he wasn't at the Runoffs. There was 1 GT2 car that DNF'd after 14 laps. In GT3, RX7's finished 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, and 19. The RX3 was 14th. That's quite a good showing!

EP was loaded too. It was great to see all those cars.

Remember, Christmas day 6 AM begins the 24 hours of the Runoffs on Speedvision. What a great way to spend the day!

I'm gonna guess you mean that all Rotary engined cars, because I KNOW that I saw a Celica with a Toyota engine (and damn did he have a car...made it back to 7th before the elec. gremlins got him). Anyway it was a great race...and yea the RX-3 was sooooo close.

EProd

Where did you get hit? It's hard to figure it out by the photo, but it was most certainly the Lude. I was at 11 for that race.........rode shotgun on a wrecker all week. The fence and trees look like 11, but the turn is wrong. Is the negative reversed? I'll look for you next year......

ECA,

You did a dumb *** interview? I find that impossible to believe. Why didn't they interview Matt? They could have asked him how he felt about HP bugeyes.

By the way, one of the photographers sent me a shot of you and I going through madness sometime during the week. If you want a copy, PM me with your email addy.
