Pro7 in OH-IN

I'm wanting to get a car together for pro7 racing in the OH-IN region for 2004. I emailed the NASA guy (mansier?) for the region as I didnt see any events scheduled for 2003 in pro7. He advised me that there was a lack of interest but there MIGHT be a couple events in 2003. I'd like to start racing at these tracks, or racing of a similar type on a track, but I'm worried that by the time I get a car together there won't be any events scheduled for this class, and I'd like to get some real track experience in a field similar to this. Does anyone have plans to race pro7 in 2004 in this region, or have any recommendations for a beginner racer?
I've seen a couple posts about spec miata, but I can get a first gen put together much cheaper and I really like 1st gens better than miatas.

Thanks for the info!

I believe the region requires the cars to retain the complete stock engine including air pump, solenoid rack, and catalytic converter.

Good luck finding a 1st-gen in that condition. Anymore it seems like everyone is all horny to bastardize their cars by haphazardly ripping all that out.
