I am in the market for 4 speed jerico. and i just bought a used one on line

and seller claim is been rebuild and store as spare

and he sent me few pic of mt

here is two of them. you can see there is slighly chip on dog gear ? is this normal ?

i understand when you change gear in dog box it will wear out the dog ring

but i dont know how bad is need to be rebuild ?

I don't see chips on the dog gear but rather the face plate. I don't think those small chips will cause any issue with the performance of the transmission. Here is a link regarding shifting advice from Hewland.

FWIW, I installed a similar dog box last year and very much enjoy the reliability versus the OEM FD 5-speed.

Thanks for reply. I am same like you. tired of braking OEM transmission

I think I will install a ignition cut off switch on shifter so i can no lift up shift and still protect

transmission

the pictures show a very nice transmission. the edge of the dogs do not look bad at all, this is normal wear and should not be any problem. wish i had pictures of the race trans I had, them dogs look nice. mine were beat off in the corners and it still worked good, high rev pull hard and still made the gear. That trans was in a 65 nova alki car making 500hp it never broke or missed a shift............just sayin

Plan to use their kit ? The reason is chey not long
