MazdaSpeed Cash Contingency Program at Redline Time Attack Events
Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to spread the word to Mazda owners out there about Mazda's Contingency Program with the Redline Time Attack series.
Mazda will pay out $200 to the highest placing Mazda, and $100 to the 2nd highest placing Mazda in each of our Time Attack Divisions.
Our Divisions are:
Street FWD
Street AWD
Street RWD
Modified FWD
Modified AWD
Modified RWD
Unlimited FWD
Unlimited AWD
Unlimited RWD
Their program is EASY money for Mazda owners. You don't have to come in 1st place OVERALL in the Division... just the highest placing MAZDA.... So even if you come in 10th place, but are the highest placing Mazda, you still win $200!!!!!
For those of you who take Auto-X or Road Racing a bit more seriously.... if you can win the National Division Championship, Mazda will give you an additional $1000 in cash!!!
For a copy of our rules and more information on our events, please visit our website:
www.RedlineTimeAttack.com
In order to be eligible for these payouts by Mazda, you must sign up (free) for the MazdaSpeed Motorsports program, here:

I haven't read the regs for Redline, but for SCCA you would have to have registered, and applied the sticker package to the correct locations on your car.
There are other details I am forgetting, but it would doubtful to get any retroactive credit.

Normally there are requirements to be met first.

If anything it will be at PIR as an event in the NW, if it ever happens. Mazda Grand Prix would be the event Redline Time Attack should attach itself to. I would love to see it in ORP, but that's a pipe dream.
I'll be competing at the following events:
Buttonwillow Raceway, CA – March 28th- 29th
Willow Springs Raceway, CA – May 29th- 30th
Spring Mountain Motorsports Park, NV September 26th-27th
Auto Club Speedway, CA – November 14th – 15th
I'll be in Street RWD class in my FD

Mazda upped the ante this year... Last year it was only for season champs..
This year, they've increased it Per Event.. and will give $1000 if the Season Champ in a Division is a Mazda..
If you attend all 4 events, you stand a good chance of claiming the season crown, as many folks only come to 2 or 3 events a year... come to all 4, and even if you come in 4th at all of them, you'll still win the Championship!

Yep, I read through all of it... for my T78 FD all I have to do is put a catalytic converter on it and change to a DOT approved tire with a treadwear rating of 140 or higher. In street class, tires can't be any wider than 285 for RWD... which will work out perfectly for me

Yokohama Street Class Shootout!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Los Angeles, CA – March 12th, 2009
The Redline Time Attack Series and Yokohama Tire are excited to announce the “Street Class Shootout”, a new program aimed at rewarding the fastest “street legal” Time Attack competitors in the United States. Three winners will be crowned at the Season Finale, to be held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Each winner (one for each drive-train configuration: FWD, AWD, RWD) will receive a 2-Day School of Racing with the Jim Russell Racing School (valued at $4000), located at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.
Over the course of the 2009 Redline Time Attack season, competitors in the Street Class Division will battle for a Season Championship in their respective geographical region (Western/Eastern). The six Regional Champions will be brought together at the season finale event, November 14th-15th, to battle head-to-head with one another. When the dust settles, National Champions will be crowned in each Street Class Division (FWD, AWD, RWD) with the drivers being given the experience of a lifetime piloting a Formula-3 race car around the beautiful and technical Infineon Raceway.
The Yokohama Street Class Shootout was conceived as a way to give something back to the “little guy”, the grassroots racer, often overshadowed by the bigger teams and Professional drivers. Footage will be captured during the Shootout and a special highlight video will be produced by Fizix Media Labs and distributed across the Web by official media partners of the Redline Time Attack series. With the 2009 Redline Time Attack season set to kick off the weekend of March 28th-29th at Buttonwillow Raceway, the chase for the Street Class National Championship, and a seat at the Jim Russell School, will be underway!
To answer some questions...
ALL Street Class competitors are eligible....
You DO NOT have to use Yokohama tires throughout the season OR during the Shootout.....
Each car competing in the Shootout WILL have to run Yokohama stickers on their car....
East Coast Region Champions will receive have their entry fee WAIVED for the event at Auto Club Speedway (to help defray the cost of transporting the car cross country)
The Championship Points System will determine the 6 cars (3 from WEST, 3 from EAST) that will be invited to participate in the National Championship and Yokohama Street Class Shootout at Auto Club Speedway. Win your Region, get invited to the big dance.
The West Region cars will obviously not wrap up their Championship until the TA competition is over at Auto Club Speedway... the Street Tire Shootout will happen DIRECTLY after the 2nd Unlimited Class TA session is over.. and DIRECTLY before the Super Session Event. So yeah, the West Region participants may not be determined until darn near just before the end of the final event of the year. :-)
The 6 cars will be sent out on the track at the same time... FWD vs FWD, AWD vs. AWD, RWD vs. RWD... to run a normal TA session (5 laps: 1 warmup, 3 hot, 1 cool down). Fastest time in each drive wheel category, wins.
The East Region cars will be allowed to practice in the practice sessions throughout the day, but will NOT compete in the TA sessions....

All things considered I'm okay with where I placed, 10th. Seeing what I'm competing against I definitely need aero, more tire, better coilovers and more track time on the tracks we’re racing on.
Did a 2:05.414 on the first session, knowing I could at least shave of 2 seconds. I really pushed on the second session, but with a dusty track, tires that were going away and accidentally turning off the boost controller, it was just a fun run.
Looking forward to racing at Willow Springs. Hopefully I will be able to get at least a rear wing and make more power.
