Insane roadrace ls7 vs 20b turbo rx7's at indy

Here is a link to a very intense race between a ls7 7 litre rx7 (jack) and a 20b turbo rx7 (wouter) at the edmonton indy gt race 2011. Both cars are roadrace spec full race gt cars with racing slicks and many modifications driven by two experienced drivers.

The 20b was on pole but had some trouble with the brakes caused by a large tire circumference discrepency creating an intermittent " ice mode condition". The ls7 had trouble in qualifying but sliced through the field in short order- and the race was on!

Some cars in this race are Porsche 930 turbo 700 hp, tube chassis monte carlo gt1stock cars, 997 cup cars, gt1 corvette, tube frame 300zx, vintage challengers, fc rx7 13b turbo, and a fusion mini prototype. The two fd rx7's walked away from all these cars.

enjoy!

Nice video Walter! A little hard to watch, but still very nice. You aren't using a new Sony camcorder are you? I had a similar issue with mine. What ABS system are you running?

vrx8- racingdriver is the driver of the 20b.

I see you fellows also lifted through the tight section after corner 1. I was trying to keep it flat, but I just couldn't trust there wasn't something nasty around that corner.

I finally dug into my gearbox and found my third gear was utterly destroyed. I'll be putting it back together, but for over 400 rwhp with slicks I think it has to be a real racing gearbox. My G-Force road race ratio kitted T5 just can't take the abuse. Looks like the same issue as the stock gearbox, the gears push away from each other, flexing the shafts and case and start breaking the tips off the teeth.

I'm looking into the Jerico, the Quaife sequential, the Saenz sequential as potential solutions, but the $$ are just too big.
