FINALLY spring is here
Great weather, AWESOME weekend and the car was VERY good. FTD both days by several seconds and ran a low 1.34 which is a new record time for me on VIRs N course.
For an idea of how fast that is Tommy Archer (legendary pro driver) won the UTCC with a 1.28 in his top drawer viper comp race car and the NASA lap record on the N course is a 1.36 (long time ago though like 07 or 08). A little boost, a wing and some slicks and Tommy better check his mirrors
Any who clearly I'm completely stoked (still so high I'm speaking surfer) and can't say enough about how awesome the FD is
PFS fixed the exhaust leak etc....and set the car up with a corner balance and alignment. Still way too much weight on the left side but Ray did the best he could and again the car felt super good. I have a vid I'll post up of an entire session taking a student for a joy ride on old tires (about 10 heat cycles) that's a testament to it's handling characteristics at this time. Went with 2.2 front camber 2 rear. 5.5 caster and 1/16th total toe front none in the rear. We found the magical 50% cross weight but the left side is like 150lbs heavier and that's the wrong side to carry weight since most of the turns are right handers. Total weight with me in the seat is 2800.
I didn't get a vid of the fast lap because as usual my video technicians skills are left wanting, the space on the card again ran out
I'll post up the lap and a half that I have before the video card died. I put on some FRESH Hankook C71s and they were killer right out of the box (1st lap was a 35 hehe) and may of run the low 34 on the second lap. Only ran three laps total because I knew I nailed it and didn't want to burn up the tires, I've never felt such good traction in one of my cars. Can't wait to one day go with sticker 285 30 18 A6s on all four corners and let that rip
I know I know I'm boasting like a rooster on crack but DAMN it feels good to GO FAST IN A FD and I know you guys know the feeling so enough of that
My student was also great (good listener with skill so it was a walk in the park) and he was driving the new track oriented Mustang Boss which is a great track car BTW.
Stay tuned for vids.

Video is up but the view is strange. Doesn't look that way before downloading to youtube so possibly it's a youtube glitch and it will fix itself. Tried uploading it again but still looks the same.
May also be my camera location. I had trouble there as well LOL

Ride along vid is up but the view is again not so pleasant some sort of wide angle flat looking BS.
If anyone has any clues about what's up with the video let me know. Using a gopro.
Thanks!

You'd love VIR definitely worth the trip
I deleted the vids because a quick search on google says I'm having an aspect ratio issue so I'll mess with it tomorrow if I have time. Must have something to do with the setting on my software because I've never had a problem like this before with the gopro.
Thanks!

yeah I've heard nothing but positive things about go-pro's and they seem very simple to use, so software seems logical, i don't even own one of those badboy's yet i just steal my friends lol so get it fixed so we can see you set more records

Gave up on my edited youtube version and went with a direct upload to vimeo
Skip the 1st couple minutes (just rubbing off the stickers hehe)
Again card ran out 1/2 way through so 1.34 lap was one of the next couple which sucks but you get the idea. The N course is a fun one.

The only vid I have data on is the 2.03 lap and I think w/o traffic I was seeing 147 so probably around 150 during the TT (pushing a little harder).
PS Most important corner at VIR is 17 so you have to nail that to see a good speed at the end of the front straight. Big difference getting out at 100 plus versus say 90.

Should have lots of good stuff from the comparison on VIR S course and also from the Porsche event prior to it.
I may run a TT with NASA at the end of this month as well.

You would love the N course. You should go to this event with me next year and drive in the TT and maybe I can drag Pete along as well.
It's so hard to beat the full but the right hand turn going up the hill is soooo fun (big slide the whole way in and up) and then you have the blind left called stevie wonder which is another super cool turn sort of like t3 at summit.
Pete and I will be at the FSR event

PS Also a great way to learn the roller coaster because you're doing it about every 100 seconds.

Yes if I'm in a corner there's a good chance the car is sliding and I'm steering it to control oversteer........ Very difficult to keep the gas pedal of a 2800 pound car with 350 HP to the floor without corrections hehe.
If you rode in the car with me you'd appreciate what's happening.
Bottomline: gas 1st and longest/hardest wins the race/runs the fastest time
Thanks for the reply. Yeah that's what I thought, but it looks "heavy" so I wanted to confirm. It almost looks like fast-hands from autocross but at the track. I am trying to schedule a time to run VIR this year; fingers crossed that everything works out. I hope to see your car in person if I'm there.

The only difference between autocross and the track is how fast you go or the size of the corners and straights BUT much harder to control/balance a car at 70 plus mph vs 50.
Look forward to seeing you sometime at VIR. I'd recommend one of the 3 day PCA events or a Chin event.
