Fritz's Track Videos

Track junkie
I'm running a 245 in the front and 1 285 in the rear.
My entry speed into the braking zone at turn one is 138 and I'm braking at marker 3-2 1/2 ish. If I had different gearing in the box my speeds would be a little faster. After I shift into 5th it just falls on it's face- RPM drop is nearly 3k, damn EPA fuel economy mandates. 5th gear really should be 6th gear and a shorter 2-5 would be nice. To re-gear the box would cost around 7k and if I ever do PCA club racing that would bump me up to the GT class and I would be a rolling chicane. The stock gearing of the 993 is probably the biggest complaint I have about the car other than that I LOVE it. Well, I could always use more power
Yea, the FC is a blast to drive, but it really needs a decent set of coilovers with some negative camber in the front. Plus, that SUV ride height is awful and body roll is pretty bad. We're all going to do the Aug Track Daze and stay for Mazda over the weekend.

I brake at the 1 or 2 around 155 mph on the back so the zero mark at 140 in the 911 should be pretty comfortable. What's scary is hell is having someone in a GT3 cup car come from no where at 170 plus, brake at the zero mark and be in your mirror before turn in at 14
Based upon your straight speeds and esses speeds I think a 2.12 is about all the 911 has in it without adding some power, taking out some weight and changing the gears. Put a pro driver in the seat and they may squeeze a couple of seconds but considering what you're driving that's a very good VIR F lap time

Good times at VIR this weekend, BRAP BRAPP!!!
Memphisraines82 on the forum was my student and he’s got the talent and love of the game as we’ve all witnessed by his own track thread. Needless to say he’s been hittin the track pipe hard this year so it was nice having someone that could instantly follow directions enabling us to make great progress with each hit and exhale. HELL I’m still HIGH
We Drove the South Course on Saturday and Sunday and the Grand E course on Monday. The south course is short but technical track with lots of elevation changes and off camber turns that really challenges the driver to find and hold the line at speed. It’s basically a really fast autocross course w/ a long straight followed by a super safe brake zone which makes it an excellent track to practice on. The Grand course includes much of the south course in combination w/ the technical sections of the North course so you get the best of both worlds, a very technical center section combined with fast front and back sections which all adds up to 28 turns and over 4 miles of BLISS J
My computer is on the fritz (hehe) so I can’t upload vids at this time but I’m proud to say I cracked the 3 minute barrier in traffic nonetheless . The last session of the day was the perfect opportunity for me to lay down a good time but I made two mistakes, the video camera was low on juice and I switched my most important left rear tire with one that wasn’t very good and it made all the right handers unpredictable but challenging which however did make for a fun and interesting session.

I hear you man! I actually hooked my HD camera up to my TV(the first time I've used it's HD capabilities) to watch the video's from this weekend. Like you, I'm kicking myself for not taking care of my camera situation before the last session. Really wish I got me running down that GTR on camera. Oh well. Look forward to seeing your videos. BTW, did you switch that tire to save the other one? Save it for a couple of weeks from now

Spot on regarding the tire. I'm pretty sure I would of smoked it had a left it on so I figured if I do the NASA event I'll still have a few good laps for the TT. Are you going?

We should shoot for something similar to this event, 3 days and one that incorporates the Grand course. We can get a few more fast FDs and blitz VIR with the sights and sounds of the ROTARY
PS Maybe a NASA event and we could do the Friday warm up session before the weekend and that way you can get some racing in as well.

I had been using Vegas Pro, but I haven't picked up an updated HD editing software yet. I think I'm going to go pick up the HD Vegas version this afternoon. I've been having to downgrade my video's to mpeg1 which defeats the whole purpose of me having the HD camera(even if it is a cheap one).
BTW Fritz, Thanks again for the free food, the spark plugs, and all the other stuff. I'm def. sold on the colder plugs now.

Crud, I just have not had enough open weekends to do anything this year. And I live less than an hour from VIR!!!
Great videos.

Great video!!
I just realized that I have Monday, Oct 12 off for Columbus day and I still have enough choice privilage points for 2 more free nights in the hotel... so I'm def. in if you are(and nothing catastrophic happens at Putnam Park the weekend before). If you do get to go, you should move your camera mount back and try out my cheap HD camera and see how you like it. I don't think your video camera does your driving justice. Even the footage I have from your car with the camera way too far forward is insane!
Did Mark email you? He sent me the data logs from the traqmate this morning but I haven't had a chance to download the software since I'm at work. I'll be interested to see what they say. I'd also like to see your logs.

I'm hitting 150 if I don't lift or traffic gets in my way but in the vid traffic got me both times through hog's pen so I was going approx 140.
W/O traffic and good tires I can blast down through t17 and will see 105 or so before the track out gators on the left end and that makes a huge difference on how fast I finish.
