FC wheel offset

What kind of offset are you guys running with 8" or 9" wheels. I don't want to add flares if I don't need to.

Thanks
E

I've got Keizer 15x8 wheels with 5.25" backspace. In the front I have to run a 1/4" spacer so the 225s clear the coilovers.

+40 with a 20mm spacer all around 8.5" rims. VERY Mild baseball bat flare in the front just rolled the lip in the rear.

my street car runs 8" rims at +25, no flare, just rolled lips.

I run 225/45-17 tires on a 8.5" wide 42mm offset rims front and rear. In the front I have a 17mm spacer/adapter and rolled lips. In the rear I have a 22mm spacer/adapter and stock lips. This is with stock style struts/shocks - I have not yet installed the coil-overs.

Any suggestion on rims?

finding a low offset 15x7" or 8" rim has been nearly impossible for me. There are used kosei's around but hard to find...ive been trying to get a price on some team dynamics pro race 1.2 in either an ET15 or ET20 but no luck as yet.

its easier in 17" to get a low offset bot not super easy, i have been running the 40ET RPF1 with the spaces simply because they are plentiful

I couldn't find any off the shelf 15x8s that fit under the stock fenders, so I wound up having wheels made. I went with Keizer, but any number of companies can do it. The trick is the amount of time it takes to get them. I cancelled orders with both Spin Werks and Jongbloed before ordering from Keizer -- the other companies were taking too long. And even with Keizer a while.

I can put you in contact with a friend of mine that imports TD PR 1.2 rims. Send me a PM if you are still interested. I got a quote from him on 17 x 7.5" TD PR 1.2 with the correct offset for the FC RX7 before deciding to go with the wider and lighter weight 17 x 8.5" SSR type C rims (which required adapters).

I would also recommend 17" RPF1 because it would be much easier - just not sure if your chassis setup will work the same with a 17" as it does with the current 15" combo.

MRW Racing Wheels buy MRW
Diamond Racing Wheels will also build them, I think for about the same price.

I'll share my recent experience. Earlier this year, I spent a lot of time researching availability of low offset 15" wheels, off-the-shelf. The selection is very limited for the 5x114.3 bolt pattern. In the 7" width, the only choices (with <40 offset) are:

Panasport +0 offset
Spinwerks +0 offset
Team Dynamics +35 offset

I spent 2-3 months waiting on an order of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2, +23 offset, which they claimed were on the shelf somewhere in England. Ultimately they admitted they were NLA and no plans to make any. The Pro Race 2 is discontinued.

The Panasports and Spinwerks are > $200 each. The TD is $135.

(For 4x100, the selection is much better -- 15x8s and 15x9s can be found in that BP).

If you can run 17", I have 17x8 SSRs +40 offset, and 5Zigen FN01-RC 17x9s, +15 front, +35 rear. The +15s require the 20mm fiberglass fenders from Mazdatrix (or flares).

Had to order mine and it took 2-3 months but was able to get 12 of them for $1800. They will make our pattern in an ET15 (lowest they can go) but you have to wait, normal production is ET35. Ask a local mechanic shop to order for you from TD. The shop I used is out of business but was just a local general repair shop, just need to be in the auto business somehow. Not sure on the markup but am guessing they did cost + 10 or 15% was all. My hookup at Discount Tire used to do the same before he stopped working there.

I will probably end up going SSR and keeping my 20mm spacers if i switch to 15" rims. But, boy are they pricey for 15" race rims. They are only made in +42.
