EGT Probe Location???

EGT Probe Location???

what is the current reasoning on locations for EGT Probes?, I am adding weld in bungs to headers.

I would just drill it on your down pipe, temps maybe a little lower, but you can still compare the readings.

I never liked drilling into thick exhaust manifolds when the down pipe will do fine.

Answer: about 3-4 inches down the header.

I've got a twin EGT gauge ... one probe in each runner of my exhaust manifold !

How close to the port

I have seen suggestions anywhere from 1" to 6" from the port/header flange

I also have a temp probe in each primary runner of the manifold about 1-1/2" to 2" from the port. I have a loggable dual channel setup so I can compare egt's from rotor to rotor.
