I just repainted the fiberglas nose and fenders of my road race car for the umpteenth time, and I would like to protect the fresh paint from the rock chips I get when drafting other racers.

Who sells 3M style adhesive clear paint protective film? I have a 1st generation Mk-1 IMSA body. I would be willing to cut and install and fit it myself, but I don't want to have to buy a full 40 yard long roll of the stuff. I would appreciate advice and sharing your experiences with these style products.

 

I've got a friend who uses it on his Factory5 Cobra replica. He runs the car in SPO down here in Fl. The stuff works great and he even got it to conform to all the curves of the cobra nose. He bought a whole roll and once people saw what it was capable of he sold it by the foot to other racers. You have to look hard to see the stuff on the car.

 

3M doesn't sell it to end consumers. You'd have to find 3M Authorized Distributor and get them to sell it to you:

Mahjik, thanks for looking up those distributors, but those are all in mid to south Alabama, and I am in North Alabama. I'll try calling a couple of automotive paint supply stores here in Huntsville. I have found a source for the film in a tape that is up to 8" wide, but I am looking for even wider size pieces for the nose.

I am hoping to find a direct seller on the web, so that I can cut out the middleman prices I have been paying.
