Exclamation eBay: 1993 RX7 PFS/Shell IMSA/GrandAm/ITE Racecar - LOWERED RESERVE

I am selling a very fast and well-sorted 1993 Mazda RX7 R1 racecar. Built and driven by Peter Farrell in the IMSA Firehawk/ESS/GrandAm series. Also driven by Boris Said and Mitch Piper, among others.

Makes 350HP at the wheels, which puts flywheel output somewhere around 390-400HP. The car weighs only 2600LB wet.

Current SCCA logbook in ITE. All safety equipment up to date. Ready to race!

The car is now listed on eBay with a lower reserve:

I am often asked about lap times, so here are my best recorded times at my "home" tracks:

VIR Full Course - 2:13
Summit Point Main - 1:24

Of course, a better driver could likely cut at least a couple seconds off my times.

Wow, I've never been to VIR, but I've heard that 2:20 is good for a street car, so that time is impressive to me. Of course, having never done a DE, I'd be lucky to break 4 minutes problaby :p

I wish I could afford to buy the car, it looks like a steal.

It was built in 1993 for the IMSA Firehawk series. When IMSA was bought by PSCR in 1996, the series was renamed "Endurance Street Stock", or ESS. IMSA was bought again in 1997, and the series was renamed "Motorola Cup". In 2000, this series became GrandAm Cup.

Peter stopped running this car (#77) professionally in 1996, when its sister car (#7) was destroyed at Road Atlanta in a tangle with a Corvette.

In June of 2001, Peter ran the car with Russ Turner (his engine builder) in the 12 Hours at the Point. They finished second overall in a 50-car field, only beaten by a half-million dollar Ferrari 348GT racecar being run by the Ferrari of Washington team - a very impressive result!

A month later, Peter and Russ ran it in the GrandAm Cup race at VIR. They were forced to use the stock intercooler by officials at the race, so they had to back down the boost. They qualified mid-field, and only completed 12 laps before blowing one of the factory intercooler hoses.

This is a very fast car - it makes a lot of power at a very light weight. The numbers really don't do it justice - the acceleration this thing is capable of is surprising!

I'm hoping the bidding goes higher than that...
