E-Stock competitors here?

Is anyone here currently running ES in SOLO II competition with any chance of being competitive?

I'm planning at racing my first event in a month in ES with my 85 GSL, and just looking for anyone else with any input in this class!

I don't think there is going to be much of an ES class in Austin. You might have more fun running in the Tire class (TES), or doing some mods to your car and running in CSP... CSP would be very difficult though, the CRX and Miata are very quick in that class (typically). SM2 is becoming very big, but VERY fast. If you've never autocrossed before you can also run in Novice.
Good luck

Yeah, I was out yesterday spectating and noticed there was only one ES car out yesterday, a second gen NA car.

I don't have the money to go into CSP (I decided yesterday), and even if I did have the money to do a lot of the mods on my RX7, I still don't think it would be competitive. As for SM2 - same thing goes. The money it would require to be close to competitive would drain my funds for this car rather quickly.

I may go TES though...that's something Tommy (last year's SPOKES pres) was talking to me about yesterday...I need to check into it a bit more and see if it's the right class for me.

If so, any suggestions on tires for my stock 13" rims that would be decent for that class? Where you out at Tech Ridge yesterday?

The Falken Azenis is the street tire to have for autox. I don't know if they make them that small though. So just get the highest performance street tire you can afford. Sounds easy doesn't it?
I think TES would be the best fit for your car. Get a set of adjustable Tokicos, brake pads, tires, and maybe a better front sway bar and you should be very competitive.
I was out there on Sunday. I was driving the black WRX wagon in STX.
Good luck

WTF? (in the quizzical, non-offensive way)

Planning on buying an FD soon? Or is it the RX-8 that you'll be driving? I heard rumors of an STi in your future.

Travis, your ubiquitous presence on automotive web forums makes me wonder if you're working for John Poindexter and not whoever it is you say you're working for.

Nice runs on Sunday. I'm one set of race tires from cracking the top 5 or 6 in SM2 (based on my times Sunday).

Now for the money....

Ah, I see in your profile what you're up to now.

BTW, there's a guy selling a GXL over near my place and has a Turbo II there for parts also. Last time I talked to his girlfriend, they were asking $1200 for the pair.

So if you're seeking parts, lemme know, I'll try and snag the number on my way home sometime this week.
