Racing Beat offers the same kit that Mazdaspeed does. I believe they actually price it at a little lower price. May be wrong...

Other than that, no. They're easy to piece together though. Used pumps can be had reasonably. You'll need to fab a mount, drive pulley arrangement, sump plate, scavenger lines, etc. but there's no real rocket science to it.

I like that they offer the FD-style front cover as well.

I just looked at the RB site you posted and I think they're trying to pull a fast one (or MazdaSpeed is over charging) I paid (I think, it was over two years ago) $2999 for just the cover the tubes were like $185, the regulator was $180 and (yes, believe it or not) the O-rings were $20 each. On the RB site it says "As delivered, the kit includes the front cover, a cover-mounted combination scavenge and pressurization pump, pick up tubes, screens, o-rings, drive and driven gears, and an oil pressure regulator". If this is true, you should run and buy before they realize what MazdaSpeed is charging.

Al,

Do you think it's because they're using RATECH components instead of whatever Mazdaspeed is using? Forgive my naivete in this regard. I'm just beginning my research now.

Wow, that's even cheaper!!! the answer to your question is NO, ratech is the one who makes them for MazdaSpeed. All the front drysump covers being sold today come from ratech, including the ones used by speedsource for the grand am program. you can't buy them directly from ratech unless you're planning on using it on an airplane at which point I'm sure he asks you for your airplane details. I don't really understand how these folks are selling them so cheap. Also the cover that I have has the extended high flow gears made specifically for the 3 rotor.

I don't have my receipts here, I'll check next time I go to the shop but I'm fairly certain the cover alone was $2999

it would be interesting to try and buy at these prices and see if they really deliver (perhaps the prices really have gone down, god knows they were over priced!)

You can pick up the pump and ancillaries off ebay for around 100 bucks if your look in the right place. As for the front cover it's easy to modify your stock front to support a dry sump.

Racing Beat's site does say "Because of the many possible combinations of RATECH components, please call us directly for both current pricing options and availability.", I'd be willing to bet that your price holds for the 20B application. I'd sure love to be wrong though.

Thanks for chiming in.

I called yesterday and they said that they only offer it for the FC front cover, and that in turn can be used for the FD. Raytec sells it to Mazda Comp and Mazda Comp sells it to Racing Beat from what the gentleman told me.

I still think any price I've seen for these dry sump kits are excessive.
