"Drag" racing questions

I didn't know where else to really post this but I was looking at some of the time slips posted in the FC section and was a little confused.

1- How much does your 60' time dictate the final 1/4 mile ET?

2- When running normal tires what kind of pressure do you run compared to normal driving?

3- What do you do to minimize wheel hop?

Reasons i'm asking:

1 I have seen many cars with slower 60' times that got a second faster ET

2 I just don't know what psi to run

3 I get wheel hop at the local track

As far as wheel hop you might want to check your rear dif mount . I never had any trouble with wheel hop until I went to the local drag strip and then it happened . BANG , BANG ,BANG - Then it would launch . I found out later that I broke this mount

Good luck

1. For every .1 seconds that you shave off your 60 foot time, your 1/4 mile ET will go down .2-.3 seconds.

2. Regular street radials should be used with normal recommended timre pressure or maybe 2-3 psi less. If you deflate them too much, the center of the tire will "cup" upward and reduce the contact patch. For drag radials, follow the manufacturer's duidelines.

3. Wheel hop is your enemy and will break parts if not controlled. The pinion mount is a good place to start. Then you should go through your whole suspension and replace any worn bushings. The AWR rear control arm bushings are the way to go. The individual rear camber adjusters will also help.
