Ok, here's the problem:
I just installed a new ACT Xtreem clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and flywheel. The clutch will not disengage. I'm getting full throw, the fork is good, and the whole hydrolic system has been replaced. Any suggestions... I'll tell you if its been checked already.

 

Disc stuck to the flywheel?

 

No, we were able to get it off with a bar, but unless we start the car in neutral or in a gear... we can't change to another gear

 

On second thought, I guess it is stuck, considering we can't seem to disengage it.

 

Just a guess....maybe the disc is backwards.

Pressure plate torqued down equally and NOT too much. Overtorque will cause problems.( uneven pressure plate, maybe causing the disc to bind on the Mainshaft?) Just a guess without seeing it. You have looked up in thru the inspection cover to verify that you have motion/throw of the unit?

 

Ok I'll check... does anyone know the "symptoms" of a bad pressureplate?

 

Bent fingers?

Are you sure the hydraulic system is well bled/adjusted?

If this is an FD, are you *sure* the throwout bearing is engaged?

Is it an FD plate in an FC trans or vice-versa?

 

Hydrolics are brand new and I'm getting full pressure. We've adjusted it a million times... with no change in results. It's an FC... good point with the FD plate though. I'll check that out, but it bolted in perfectly.

 

Same thing happened to me 160 miles away from home in a race tract.......Yea....its the stupid clutch...ACT!!! pos....
Replaced mine with a stock disk, the old one...its just works fine....
the problem is the buttons on the clutch disk eat into the flywheel...and during a drift event. it fused itself to flywheel....

Everything else is good(the pressure plate, flywheel(scored though), TO bearing, fork,etc)....the Clutch disc is POS....
Don't buy ACT!!!! Booooooooo.......
