In-Cell surge tanks
In-Cell surge tanks
Anybody have any experience with the trap door surge tanks in the ATL cells with injection. They are about a $150 option and I'm considering making my own if they work. The other option is an external one and if I go that route will one of those el-cheapo Facet solid state pumps be enough for an NA FC. They claim 30GPH.
I already have my high pressure pump.

I use an in-tank surge tank in combination with an external tank. The combination sucks every last ounce of fuel from the tank. I get a hiccup about a half mile before it runs dry. The system is probably overkill but other than running out of fuel a couple times I've never had a fuel supply problem.
Chris, whose intake suge tank? what kind of cell?
Data point: on My ITA car, Fuel safe sports scell, I ran a single pickup, single pump and used all 15 gallons... it was bone dry. It coughed once, on a turn away from the pickup, and died 100 yards later.

I hope that was an enduro, I'm planning on using a 12 gal cell in an EP car because we never go more than 50 miles in a race. Our other car has a 15 gal&carb'd and we never seem to use more than 8 gals in a race.
I have an ATL 22 gal cell and the internal tank is from ATL. The surge tank has three tubes for pickups with what look like ping pong ***** for one way valves. The external surge tank in a simple aluminum tank fabbed with two inlets on top, the pump feed out the bottom, and the return line to the cell out the top. Both the lift pump and the return line from the engine feed the external surge tank with the excess spilling back into the cell.
