So I brought another one home. Basically a parts car for my ITS habit with a blown o-ring. Gonna strip it and sell off all the stuff I won't use. But it appears the tub is solid. Maybe better than what I started with when i did my IT car. So I'm thinking of setting it off to the side and slowly building up a Production car. I know some of you Prod guys are on here. Can you point me to the good Prod sites. And what is the general consensus on the competitiveness of a tin-top 2G?

Check the Mariah Motorsports site ( http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/ ) they built a couple VERY Competitive E-Production 2nd Gens inculding the current (2002) SoPac Div Regional champion FROG team car.

The 2nd gen is actually quite competitive in Production now. I personally believe the 1st gens still have a slight rules advantage, but the 2G, is catching up.

The question you really need to ask is; do I want a "regional" runner or a "national" contender. We won the So-Pac region quite handily last year, but the National series is really quite different.

I would say that one could get away with a $30-35k regional car and be real competitive. Once you move onto the National scene, I would say minimum $50-60K to play with the big boys. A lot of the front-runners are way beyond these figures, at the National level.

The 2 cars were built as regional level rides. One of the cars has been developed and tested to a National level. We call it our own little rolling test-bed

The full National level car is under construction and should be out in some months.
