Excellent lap time at Road America. Is that with your new R85 turbo?

 

Seems like the R85 was a bit laggy compared to your old set-up, or are you just getting smoother?

 

yes, road america is silly fast track, ...its friggin HUUUGE....I love it, one of my fav tracks.

it was with the new turbo but old engine, and first time with all the winter mods i didi, the writeup is still coming on all that, sorry its takin me so long :-)

 

the r85 feels great....its laggier on teh street when at low rpm yeah, but on the track I cant really tell, but i can tell that it pulls like a mother up high.

i dunno what in the video makes you think that, must be my driving, i have really smoothed out a lot and changes my style a bit for faster lap times (and it showed up in my times too!!!)

 

ill be there 2 more times this year.... so get it goin and ill see ya there :-)

what one, i know like 4 red cobra Rs :-) they all run different times at RA.

 

for what video? at ra it was like 12 psi on the old motor, at joliet it was like 9 psi on the new motor.

 

Damian, we just finished the tune on my car, 506rwhp/387tq in my slick tired wide body road race FC, should be quite a ride I think you are smoother than the last set of videos I watched. Carl

ahh ok, Ted was at joilet this weekend workin out his new AI car, Fred was not there as his car caught fire a few events back, he was ok but the car took some
damage :-(

Up untill that weekend I think Freddy ran a 2:32 in his red R, but I wanna say he did a 2:30 in the same event that I did the 2:31. I felt pretty good either way since Freddy is an exceptional driver, way beyond where I am. And Ted is at another level too, as is my other cobra R buddy Brian, I just taga long and learn from those guys :-)

On a side note, I got a trophy plaque this weekend at the NASA event. It was my first time on the south track and late in the first day I got the fastest time trial time of a 1:39, then beat it with a 1:37, then with some help from my buddy Brian (AI racer) I cleaned up some lines and I beat my old time again on the second day with a 1:35. There was no other cars in my class so that was no big deal, it was the fact that it was fastest time trial overall that made me happy :-) and I think I took another leap in where I feel comfortable in terms of speed with the car.

by the way, I ran an entire day and only got tiny bit of build up in the oil catch can, your method really worked for me (2nd vent by old oil return hole) i love it!!! no more oily mess on the side of the car and in the engine bay after one session, I literally could run an entire event without having to empty the catch can now.

What tires are you running? Yea, 500+ at the wheels(Brian Cain Tuned it Yesterday), car is around 2450lbs with 16x12 w/13" slicks in the rear, and 16x11 w/11" slicks up front. I'll probably run~450rwhp on the track, but I can always go to KILL mode with the push of a button I am working on getting some coaching myself. I instruct locally at HPDEs for NASA, but I know I have a tremendous amount to learn. I think brakes will be the main limiting factor for me on the straights, I can probably redline 5th at thunderhill, but then again I would not be able to stop, so it's probably a bad idea Carl

 

brakes are good :-) I love my brakes :-)

I run used dunlops that i buy for like 75 a tire, they are non-dot racing tires.

 

Slicks? what sizes, and do you mind letting me know who you are buying from? I am running goodyear take offs myself. are the dunlops Radials, or Bias ply?
