Single turbo->leaning out engine harness
I need to get my engine harness out as in my quest to find what the hell is wrong with my engine behaviour, I can not come to another conclusion than a failure in the engine harness...
Being at that point, I'm planning to take out as much as possible.
Engine is single turbo, has ALL solenoids removed, no airpump, nor airco.
I have taken out the fuel solenoid out of the rats nest as well. That is no problem I guess..
So what do I need to keep from the harness?
- TPS
- Injectors
- UIM air temp
- MAP sensor
- krank position sensors (2 at the front cover)
- alternator connections.
- connector next to the oil filler neck which is connected to UIM (sorry, name is slipping me)
- connectors for the gearbox (4 off them)
Which others need to stay as well and what others can go?
Do some wirings need resistors to replace them with the PFC?? (solenoids don't fe.)
Many thanks

you have to be carefull when removing stuff, some solenoid use a comon ground with other things so if you remove the connector you will disable other things you might need.
There are a lot of things you need to keep, maybe you should go by the opposite, what is it that you can remove...
what is your problem exactly and why do you think that removing some wires or connectors you are not using will cure your problem?

you are right... about all Solenoid groundings come together in one wire, making a ground. I should take that into account and ground it to the engine or chassis.
Solenoids can be removed when using the PFC. That's what I've been reading here for the last 4 years anyway.
I have a spra engine harness which I'm leaning out right now and checking it for possible kinks, breaks or whatever. wires are prone to break and be interrupted due to the heat underthe manifold.
Knock sensor is another thing I need to keep.
My problem is that, since my new rebuild, streetport, non seq turbo conv. the engine is not performing underload. meaning under possitve boost or when the engine is under load (low rpm, gaspedal floored)
I've checked about everything and changed out everything (exc shaft pos sensors, injectors,TPS has been checked, vac lines have been tripple checked...)

Coolant temp sensor, coolant switch, and the crossover plug to the starter harness. You do know that the Map sensor is part of the chassis harness right? Also, the starter section of the harness can be leaned out. Just keep IMO the oil level switch and the ignition output connector.

Removing solenoids will not affect common grounds or common +12V.
Only cutting connectors off the harness and if they have multiple wires to either the + or negative side would be bad.
And I do not remember seeing any when I went single turbo.
