Running FC-Edit on Windows 8 64-bit
So I hadn't hooked up a laptop to my datalogit in about 4 years, but there might be a dyno session coming up, so I wanted to re-check my settings and AFRs before I decide if I should go.
The laptop I used to use had Vista. It worked great for the task but is long gone.
Newer laptop is an ultrabook with Windows 8.
I tried the same Prolific USB-Serial connector as before, tried a bunch of drivers, a bunch of versions of FC-Edit, a bunch of different compatibility settings, a bunch of online solutions that I found, but nothing worked for connecting properly and reading the info from the Power FC
In the end, the solution that actually worked was using Oracle Virtualbox to run Windows XP Pro within a window, and using that OS with the same cable/driver/FCEdit that failed under Windows 8
A guide is here How to Run Windows XP for Free in Windows 8
Everything involved is free btw

Which version of FC-edit are you using?
