running 101 octane should i change timing?
I am going to the strip next wednesday and i was planning on running 101 octing fuel should I do anything with the PFC or will it be fine.
Hey Zack, you going back out this wednesday the 8th? M and I will be there on the 15th again, if you feel like going back to back. I hit a 13.51 at 106 on my last run, maybe we will see you out there again.

yeah im going this wednesday because i want to run 101 and lower the tire pressure and see what i get with that. I would wait a week but I wanted to see what the import test and tune was like. My friend said there would be some pretty fast import dragsters and I cant miss that. Ill see you guys on the 12th for sure though.
If you're running safely with pump and you're not going to turn up boost and timing then there is no benefit to raising the octane other than added detonation protection. You may take away performance as well with a slower fuel burn.
It's just like adding AI to your current setup without retuning. Octane is not a fuel boost like some think. D

Race gas has a higher octane rating so is less likely to detonate, but it also burns a little slower.
To get the most out of it, you increase timing and lean out the AFRs.
The higher octane value allows you to run more boost than you can on street gas.

Personaly going to track at your stage of the game is kind of a waste of time. You are only going to be disapointed, and more than likely break something.
Take you car to a reputable tunner and get a good tune then enjoy the car. The track is fun, but take if form someone who has broken alot of stuff it gets old being donw for repairs.
And yes if you do go use pump gas.

If you are running 10.5 afr's at 12psi. There is no point at all in running race gas. At 12psi you sould be more like 11.5 afr on 93 octane, if the timing is set correctly. BTW don't mess with the timing unless you know what you are doing. You may want to try and lean it out some, slowly, while watching knock, but without a WB O2, I would just run your car like it is as long as it runs fine.

I did take my car to a reputable tuner ground zero and he tuned my car. I really dont want to mess with my settings myself so i guess I will leave it as is for now. I am also going to get steve kan to tune my car because he is coming to seattle so hopefully he will be able to get my afr's right. Thanks for all the info guys
