Question Restrictor Pills??

Is it okay to remove the restrictor pills sinse the PFC regulates the boost anyhow?? I have a Pettit ported twin running sequential and the secondary turbo isn't kicking in its like 13-13-13 till redline, and no additional kick in the pants when there should be when #2 should come on line they sent me other pills to put in line ( I forget the size) could this be restricting #2 from coming on??

I am jealous, you don;t want that kick in the pants, it feel slower but you are getting much smother power, would you rather have 13-13-13 or 13-10-13. They probably isn't anythign wrong. Is anyone else running the pettit pills with PFC? I thought you shoudl run stock.

I replaced the actuator pill w/ a #62 instead of a #64 that Pettit sent me. The stock pill is a #59, I guess I am fine now, I might just put it back to stock, then again... I think that they send a larger # pill because with now having "high flow" turbo's, the kick to the secondary would pull the wheels off the ground (yeah, I wish) I guess it would bee a bit abrupt and all . I raised my duty cycle up about 6% on the secondary and that made things kick a bit better, I just wanted to feel #2 just so I know it's functioning, I guess I doubted the guage for a sec. So,,what is the highest duty % that everyone is running??. Another question to everyone is, why is the duty cycle percentage on the secondary turbo boost setting set higher than the primary?? Thanks for any input.

boost boost boost-- why does everyone want boost? oh more power! Anway, 13-13-13 is very good because you don't have a spike. Anway, you cannot remove the pills otherwise you will get 7 lbs of boost ... you see the pills delay the pressure on the wastegate long enough to get the desired boost (ie 13 lbs).

Also by raising the duty cycle you increase boost ... reason for more kick. This bleeds off more air from the wastegate ... again allowing for more boost. If the solenoid is open for a longer period of time then if vents more air and raises the boost. So if the duty cycle is higher -- the solenoid is open longer. Make sense? For a LONG discussion of boost check an older thread from the 3rd gen archive where I go over the solenoid/wastegate actuator topic in serious detail. (I took a few shortcuts in my explantion in that thread ... but it is a decent write-up.)

Sounds like your boost pattern is great. If possible could you please clarify what # you have in the wastegate line and in the precontrol line.

Oh yea, also what do you have your boost and duty cycle set on???

Thanks for the info!!!!

The precontrol (is that the shorter of the two hoses? I forget..anyhow) has a #62 pill in it (stock is #59). The other hose still has the stock pill, not sure the number on that one.. Pettit told me to leave that one in. If you are looking to mess with the pills a bit, go to Napa or Schucks Auto parts and ask for jets for a holly carburetor, they have jetting kits, or buy them in 2's for $5-10 bucks. Now mind you everyone's setup will be different. I have a ported engine and the Pettit stock ported twins running sequential and all the mods except for a MP, so I don't know if it makes a difference or what, so keep that in mind.
The duty cycle I am running is the second boost setting on the commander, I just increased the secondary turbo duty cycle up 6% of what is was originally, I'll check the % later and let you know the exact #. I'm not sure what I did for the setup, luck I guess.. It just seems like I can squeeze more horsepower out of her while keeping a level of boost well below 1bar with no spiking.

WORDS OF WISDOM: "It's not the size of your boost that matters, it's how you use it."
