Where are there restrictor pills/orfices??

The boost line 'pill' location has been discussed a lot.

However, I just had to replace the line to the twin scroll actuator (aka 'switching actuator') on my '87 TII. The line had white paint on the end that hooks to the vac. tubing ***'y. Inside, under the paint was something that looked suspiciously like a melted restrictor pill. (The line had fallen onto the down pipe & was pretty well fried).

The dealer's parts display showed a very different setup from the vac. line to my twin scroll actuator. My steel tube comes out from the banjo fitting, makes a 90degree bend & is about a 14" long after the bend, then a vac. hose goes up to the vacuum pipe assembly.

The dealer's computer showed a steel tube that was much longer, extended up almost to the vac line ***'y with a short length of vac. line connecting it to the vac ***'y. BUT, THERE'S NO PILL SHOWN IN THE VAC. LINE. The tube was bolted to the firewall in a couple of places. (Actually looks like a much more heat resistant setup than what my TII has.)

Elsewhere in the forum, someone mentioned a restrictor pill in a boost control line. However, I didn't find one when I had my turbo apart for porting & rebuilding.

So, I'd really like a complete list of which lines have something special in them.

Thanx,
'82 & '87 TII.. 20B awaiting a vehicle...

Ask and you shall receive!!

1. The vacuum line going from the intake manifold connection on top of the ACV to the Boost Sensor on the passenger strut tower.

End of list.

What does this mean??? Simple. Someone sometime in the past pulled the vacuum lines off. He then put them back on. He was probably a Mazda Dealer mechanic (Duh, a vacuum line is a vacuum line, Duh). You see, the stock line mentioned in the list has the restrictor pill in it very near the ACV connection, and it is marked with white paint! Coincidence??? You be the judge!

PS you can get a replacement restrictor pill and push it into the replacement boost/pressure sensor hose without a problem. The dealer is as good a source as any for this inexpensive an item.

Wink So there's only 1! - THANX

Very Interesting, I suspected that might be the case, but I was a tad confused because the boost sensor line also had a restrictor pill in it,
but didn't have the white paint spot. ( Figgured
the line had been replaced & the pill transferred.)

Guess sometime after the lines got switched someone put a pill into the boost line.

Anyway, Thanx for the info...
