Question removing the restrictor pills to lower boost

I have heard that by removing the restrictor pills you can limit your boost to about 7psi. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and if there is any truth to it. If there is I will probably do this for now because I will see 14psi all the time and I don't feel my upgrades are adequate to support it (DP, Catback, Intake and M2 ECU). Also I am having wierd behaviors on transition as boost will go from 14psi and drop to about 5psi on transition then climb back to 14. It's hard to troubleshoot the sequential system to begin with, not to mention I live in Colorado Springs (6000ft above sea level) so the air is a lot thinner. I just want to be safe to the engine as I just replaced it last summer and it only has 3000 miles on it. Hoping to convert to a nice quick spooling single turbo for simplicity and reliability as soon as I get some extra money. But for now I would like to limit the boost for safety reasons. Any replies I would greatly appreciate.

You can take the pills that are on the tops of the WG and PC actuators and boost won't go over 7lbs. What a lot folks have done is put a needle valve from home depot in those lines for manual boost control. Once I get a midpipe that's what I'm going to do.

Careful with the needle valve. You can blow your motor with it if you're not careful. Needs lots of trial-and-error tuning.

It sounds like you need to address you boost issues before you start changing pill configuration. If you have the mods you mentioned, the M2 ECU is programmed to run 13PSI safely. If you are running 14PSI and dropping to 5PSI on transition, then there is something really wrong with your control system. I would have it checked before you start changing the setup.

I think the problem with the transition is cuz of the altitude. My car does the same thing, im in denver. DR. Wankel is in Fort Collins and his does the same. I think the transition is affected by the altitude. just what I have noticed.
