Power FC queation about power fc install
queation about power fc install
not sure what section to put it into..... so tried both
INstalling the power fc got the t coil done, but im a little confused as to what wires I have to solder. I know it says on the x-i6 and kock adaptor. But iI have no clue which ones Exactly they are (behind the passenger kick wall) and the haynes manual doesnt help very much

Ever removed your engine harness (pulling the motor, whatever)? When you pull back the carpet to get access to the ECU, there will be two big orangish plugs under there that connect the EM Emissions harness (fuel injection harness I was just mentioning, the one that connects to the injectors and such) with the F front harness which goes through most of the car.
What is a bit confusing about this is that connector X-16 is actually connector FEM-02 in the free online available FSM, see the fuel and emissions section of the wiring diagram. X-16 I think is the designation in 86-87 FSM's or something. There is a brown wire there, the one circled in the diagram I posted from the Banzai Racing website. It's below the locking tab if you are looking at the connector from the back, the side that the wires go into (NOT the side with the pins). Get the side of the connector that goes towards the middle of the car (front harness side), not the side that goes to the firewall and out into the engine bay (emissions harness side).
Strip this wire back (yes it's a bitch to strip) at least an inch (do NOT cut it, just strip it with some good strippers from a hardware store or Sears, not that huge $2 crimp/stripper/cutter tool that you can get at the bargain bin). I think it's a 20 gauge wire, it might be tough. Then strip back the unterminated white wire marked "COR" on the Power FC adapter. Twist the white wire around the stripped area of the brown wire, then use a little bit of solder on it (don't drip solder on there, heat up the wire itself and apply just a bit to coat the threads of the wire).
The other wire is the grey knock sensor wire, which connects to the knock control unit. The knock control unit is right near the atmospheric pressure sensor under the dash (which looks like your stock pressure sensor under the hood). You can just cut the knock sensor wire from the knock control unit harness plug and solder it right into the "KS" wire on the adapter. You don't have to hook this up, but I would. It's useful for your tuner to log and for displaying peak knock on the commander.
The vehicle speed wire comes from the cruise control computer or the instrument cluster, I didn't bother hooking it up.
alright got it hooked up, i get no reading on the commander for the trialing coil, I tested it in another car and it works fine. but the car doesnt start and no reading on the trailing
can't help you there, I paid Banzai Racing to do my trailing coil. BUT the car might still be able to start without the trailing coil working right You may have another issue. Does the car just keep turning over and not even sputter or anything? Or does it want to start but just kinda dies?
Did you load the basemap into the Power FC with a datalogit? Do you have fuel and leading spark? Do you hear the fuel pump priming with the key in the on position? Jumper the fuel pump check connector and try to start it if you don't hear the fuel pump priming.
CAS installed correctly? What are your mods? If you have a spare CAS, disconnect the one that's in there. Hook it up to the spare one and spin it by hand and see if anything shows up on the commander (or datalogit preferably) for rpm.

The car just cranks and cranks, the car is street ported and t4 turbo on it, stock injectors on it. Base map was not loaded on it with datalogit (taking some time to find someone around here in Nebraska that has one). You can hear the fuel pump working.
