Problems, swap intake, runs rough.

Hey guys,

I recently had Steve Kan tune is my S-5 turbo fb, ran smooth as silk yada yada great power. Well I got my hands on a polished FD uim and ported adapter spacer, to fit up to my S-5 lim. Swapped it over this weekend, cars starts right up, tip in is a lttle flat "boggy" but the idle is horrible. rpm bounces 50 up and down, and the vacuum guage twitches, it just sounds rough.

I swapped over S-6 components to include the tps and tb, everything is wired up correctly and there are no error codes on the commander with the exception of the vmop which is removed. All the emission devices, secondary throttle plates, are removed and the ait sensor is mounted on the greddy elbow.

Basically I just swap over uim and nothing else, plugged everything back together and even threw new plug in the leading. Runs fine on the street pull good, afrs look good. I have run out of ideas, btw, I didn't change anything on the commander/map Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

If you really only swapped out the UIM and kept the TB as was, then either you have air leaks or "hosed" something.

Air leaks, like between the upper and lower mani, those type of things.? Hosed something doesn't sound good either.

Thanks

Many many times, we have read threads starting off with:
"I was only doing xxxxxx and now it is HOSED". These xxxxx things can be very simple but newbs just know how to hose something simple into something
bad. Some type of newb GIFT!

Well I found the problem, its a bad FD tps. It came with the throttle body I bought and I just assumed it was good to go. Its way out of spec I cant get it to go below 3 volts closed and it barely goes over 4 volts at wot, on both the low and high range signals.

So I guess it wasn't a newb gift, but a bad part I bought. The sad part is the guy I bought it from, could never get his car running smooth or sorted out. He parted it out, and dropped a ton of cash on a LS-1 conversion. I dont think I will mention it to him ever.

Thanks
Chris.
