Exclamation AP Engineering Poer FC Changes

Good day everyone. I'm the proud owner of a FC and FD for several years. The FD is now getting a T76 installed so I have started to work on the FC.

My problem is the FC is from Japan and it came with a AP Engineering Power FC. Since I have the power FC in the FD I ordered a COmmander to work with the FC ECU. Will waiting for the commander I installed 600 primaries and 900 secondaries. The car would not run after 4500 rpm, even with AFC installed. Once the commander came and I changed the injector setting the car ran fine.

Now to my problem. The FC setting page shows all the timing at -25 and the fuel correction at 050. I cannot get them to change. When the car is running the timing moves between 1 to 32 deg, so it seems to be programmed fine. I assume that the AP Engineering ECU is locking me out. I heard about the DataFC edit software.

I'm I doing something wrong or is the ECU locked?

How do I unlock it?

Any help would be great: jukebox@coralwave.com

My AP PFC was not locked when I got it, I was able to change everything with the commander. Just tonight I got the datalogit hooked up to it and also was able to change settings with that.

When using the datalogit, or the original apexi (power excel, I think?) software at the dealer shops, you can select a lockout feature to prevent settings from being tampered with by the customer after a tune is done. You need a datalogit (or a dealer) to unlock it for you as well.

Sounds like you need to buy a datalogit.

Why the heck do you have an AFC hooked up to a PFC controlled car? unhook that damned AFC.

I only had the AFC will I waited for the Commander to come from Japan. It could not control the injectors anyway.

When the FC is locked, how does the screen look. I can get to the inj setting screen but it seems none n my changes stay. Dump question but once you change a setting and then press NEXT and it moves on it should stay, but once I press PREV and then com back all of the settings have not change.

Should I try use initializing evrything?

You should be able to change your settings on the fly. To me it sounds like you are locked out. Buy your Datalogit from rx7.com. They are a dealer for them. I have the same unit in my t2.
Thanks Robert

If the unit has been locked previously then everything looks the same on the commander and there is no way to know without the datalogit. But it acts just like that...you can change values but they do not save or take effect.

Are you sure that you're just not seeing the resolution points that you are looking for? The datalogit gives you far more resolution points in the maps to work with.

No I can move around and see all of the cells. Just for inormation

All timing map cells are showing as -25deg.
All fuel correction map cells are showing 050

How is the best way to get a datalogic?

I'd say buy one through a US retailer like rx7.com that way you'll have support through them if you have a problem.
