Hi! I just install the screen few weeks working on this.
My commander is FCC2 from 3SGTE mr2
I buy the blue screen CFAG12864B-TMI-V from crystalfontz . com
I put some nail polish to each side of pin 18, I made sure there is not contact.
I just only see the apexi logo for less than a second and see the white screen
I still don't have any resistor.
This is the video

Will this be the same fix for the newer organic EL half controller? Btw stay away from it. Less than 2 years and the screen is having issues! not bright! Car is always parked in a shade too... if i had seen this i would've just repaired my old one. ..
I really would want to get it fixed... :/

I've tried this, but can not use it because the voltage and some signals are not right.

My EL commander's screen went dark as well. I have a feeling this isn't uncommon. Going to work on a fix for it when I can get some other projects out of the way.
Mine was one of the very first ones for sale in the US, like around 5-6 years ago.

FYI I did some fooling around with the commander yesterday.
I have a buddy's old commander that we plan on upgrading to the newer blue screen. I also have my EL commander with a dead screen - buttons light up, but the screen stays totally dark.
Taking both apart and comparing side by side the two commanders are VERY different. Totally different circuit boards and the top circuit board with the screen is quite different and actually attached to the bottom board on the opposite side.
I bought a replacement EL screen off Ebay recently ($50) to have on hand for repairing my commander hopefully. The screen makes its connection to the top circuit board with a ribbon cable, that cable looks to be soldered on to the back side of the circuit board with hot glue over it. That joint to me seems very suspicious, I'd like to try and touch up that joint first before replacing the screen.
Attached are pictures of the insides of the EL commander and one showing the replacement screen I got by the commander.

Sweet! thanks dale! would love to repair the screen rather than replace it. didn't think OLED screens had such short lifetimes. hopefully fixing solder joint will help!

Anyone have a guide for what voltage should be at each pin? I did the install and messed something up, but cannot figure out what. Installed the crystalfonts LDC linked above as well as the resistor, using FCC3 commander. Tried adjusting contrast and brightness using my other known good commander, but nothing is showing when I plug in the updated one.
Anyone want to help before I scrap this project and move on?

Hi from russia!
Thanks on manual!
I bought screen on ali for test White screen
now I ordered a screen from America crystalforz,I would like to see if there is a difference, I wait when I get the answer, because the delivery is very expensive
P.S.! when buying screen, be careful : Screen Black on white - all screens in driver ks0108 *B* ,
to make it work it is necessary to solder on the resistance display itself, a lot of rework.
that display that on the photo white on black above is ks0108 * A * - I did everything on , 18 pin off, and 2&3 pin resistor in my case 380 Om
