Power Fc optional boost controller?'s

same post as before but in this section.

is the optional boost controller any good? it seems like not alot of people get it. but since it comes with the 3bar map sensor i think it might be worth looking at. i have read, and heard two different stories now. one says it is good one says it is bad. just let me know if you think it will be good for my mods

thanks

john

not many people on here have the 3 bar map sensor. To me, since no one has said the opposite, you give up resolution going with a 3 bar map sensor, compared to the stock 2 bar. With the stock 2 bar, you have 20 pressure rows to divide up between vacuum and boost, max being the map sensors range limit of 17 according to the manual. Going with the 3 bar means the same 20 pressure rows now must be set up to see vacuum and also more boost values, unless you have the fc datalogit or power excel software to change the pressure values themselves. So if you are going single, plan on running 18 psi to 20 psi, you still only have 20 pressure rows to use. Granted you can give up a couple of vacuum rows for the added boost row values, you still have given up resolution for the entire map.

I don't think it can control boost any better in cold weather if it is using duty cycles to control boost.
