Question Power FC Commander Stuck on Splash Screen! Help???

I just purchased a Power FC w/ commander "used", once installed the car runs much better but the commander never leaves the APEXI Splash screen. If the ecu runs the car but the commander is stuck no matter what buttons are pushed and after making sure it is plugged completely in what is wrong?

Loose wire, probably brown. Open up the commander and check.

That will happen if the PFC and Commander version doesn't match. There is a chart on the Apexi website where you can see which PFC requieres which Commander.

But even though this version is different from the Power FC, does the car still run? Or is there some fault that will not cause the car to run? I had the same thing happen to my commander but the car only cranks and doesn't turn over. Anyone?

The Apexi website is down since some weeks

The car will run with any version of the Power FC, but the Commander tries to pull data in a way the PFC doesn't understand and so the Commander can't do anymore than showing the splash screen.

hello,

the above comments are correct, you have the wrong commander, tell me what the number on the back of the commander is, and the number on the PFC is, and i can tell you if it fits.

if the Power fc is 001. 002. or 003 then the commander should be 415-Z001, if it is 004. 005 or 006 the differ.

i rekon youve got an old power fc (001. 002. or 003) and a new commander.

if your are the other way round and have a new power fc (004. 005 or 006 ) and a 415-Z001, tell me and i will buy the commander off you, giving you some money to get on that fits.

Cheers

Nick

not to hijack the thread or anything but mine got stuck on the apexi screen and would crank but not start...it was raining and my guess is something might have gotten wet. I have had it since 00 and have never had any issues with it until now...i'll probably open it up and check the brown wire.

z002 and z004 are the only ones that should work for a 93-19 RX-7 right? I have a newer PFC (FD3S4) so i guess I need a Z004 commander. I must have a Z002 (older PFC for 93-95), so if anyone has the newer one and needs the older, or just wants to buy mine, or sell their's let me know.

15 year old thread.. lol. I would guess after time it dried out and started up if that was the issue.

If you think rain had something to do with it, pull the kickpanel and see if the ecu is wet. Same for your fuse boxes. Check spark, fuel, etc. I'm close to Jax if you need a hand.
